Please take note: Paradijs is secured by an alarm and camera system. The alarm system will be available for your use and control via an alarm remote and internal keypad. The camera system is under the control of the guesthouse and can be disabled if you request it to be disabled. The Cottage is open plan does not have solid doors and walls between the living room, bedroom and bathroom. Storage for clothes is provided behind a curtain in the bathroom. Parking for The Cottage is in the street.

Paradijs and The Cottage are on the same premises. Paradijs and The Cottage each have their own, separate entrances, verandas, braai areas and parking spaces. Both buildings also have different facilities and amenities. Paradijs is a spacious Karoo farmhouse on edge of the beautiful Nieu Bethesda village, a 5 minute walk to the Owl House. Sitting on the stunning porch, overlooking the damson plum orchards, with the town and church in the near distance, and the striking Karoo landscape beyond, it is apt that this house was named Paradijs back in 1876 when first built. The large kitchen is the perfect place to enjoy spending time together. It is fully equipped, has a woodburning stove and separate fireplace for those cold winter days. The 8-seater dining table, and seating area within the kitchen, with views into the orchard and town beyond, makes it the happy core of the home. The 3-bedroom house was meticulously renovated & remodelled. The thick walls and roof insulation keeps the house cool in summer, and the refurbished sash windows and doors, large poplar beams, antique door handles and light fittings, and eclectic mix of furnishing, gives this home a sense of charm and grandeur. The main bedroom features a King-size bed, and an en-suite bathroom with bath & shower, air-con and heating, with views across the porch and gardens. The other two bedrooms have Queen sized beds; each has its own bathroom with a shower. All bedrooms have electric blankets for winter, and overhead fans and mosquito nets for summer. Enjoy the absolute peace and tranquillity of the Karoo from this stunning home. The Cottage, previously known as "Simone's" is a rustic Karoo open plan cottage. It offers a kitchen, with seating at the indoor fireplace, a bedroom and a bathroom. It is unpretentious and cozy with a serene stoep with a view of the Karoo landscape, where one can braai. The village is quaint; has several excellent restaurants, galleries and tourist attractions. Meals are affordable in Nieu Bethesda; one should indulge in the excellent food served in the village, from breakfasts, home-cooked meals, artisan beers, and cheeses. There is a general dealer in the village, stocking fresh produce, wood, ice and groceries. At the farm stall one can buy excellent meat to braai/ bbq. The village has no filling station or ATM. Graaff Reinet is a comfortable 45 minute drive from the village and offers several galleries, museums and restaurants as well as the impressive Valley of Desolation. The Mountain Zebra National Park is located near Cradock, about an hour and 30 minute’s drive from here.
