Our 4-sleeper Dreamcatcher's View cottage lies in a beautiful mountain valley the indigenous Khoi herders called Xairu! which means 'Paradise'. Nowadays people from all walks of life settle here to experience a less frenetic, more simplistic and back-to-basics way of living in a breathtaking natural environment. Our cottage is safe and homely - it is a nature lover's dream and provides a comfortable setting for an individual getaway, a small family or group of friends (max 4 persons) who are after a taste of rural life. The village is an interesting place to explore, to rest and relax and to absorb the slower-paced ambience, take leisurely walks along the riverbank or hike/cycle the lower slopes of the mountain.

We are both retired teachers who have enjoyed travelling locally and abroad - thoroughly immersing ourselves in the geography and history of our amazing planet. Suurbraak has a mixture of homes but the village is dotted with many crumbling traditional mud-brick (cob) cottages which showcase a unique vernacular. They are interesting and add to the mystery and 'old world' charm of the village. They demonstrate resilience and how families can make life happen even in difficult times. Heritage buildings, magnificent mountain views, riverside walks and numerous hiking and cycling routes through forest and fynbos lends the area to eco-tourism. The wood-frame cottage is situated behind the village square and offers a perfect stopover between the Garden Route and Cape Town on the N2 as well as between Oudtshoorn and Cape Town via Route 62 and the R324. 'The uniqueness of where you stay in this accommodation is incredible. I am from South Africa, but have not experienced being in such surroundings before.
