Pieter and Elsa, together with their team, succeed in bringing a taste of Europe to their guests in South Africa with the exceptional quality and attention to detail in everything that they do.

The Main house, known to locals as the De Wahl house, belonged to Jos de Wahl, a man originally from Belgium, but who was adopted by a South African family after his parents died on their way from the Congo. Jos, who later became the Mayor of Vryburg, built the house in 1954. In those years, it was furnished with beautiful European furniture due to the owner's Belgian heritage and became quite a sought after property. Astonishingly, the current owners, Pieter and Elsa Jonker, also have Belgian ties as they lived in Belgium for 20 years. After their return to South Africa, they bought the house in 2004 and turned it into a guesthouse. In the years that they lived in Europe, they developed a passion for European art, architecture and culture. The European influence can be experienced in most aspects of this guesthouse and despite the house being in the main road of Vryburg, it is a tranquil escape with its beautiful garden, water features and verandas.

Vryburg is a large agricultural town that finds itself in the heart of cattle farming country. Vryburg is situated on the main railwayline between Cape Town and Botswana, and its position on the N14, which runs actross Gauteng and links up with Springbok in the Northern Cape. On your way to the Kgalagadi , West Coast and Botswana, Vryburg is the perfect place to overnight. For tourists landed at Oliver Tambo Airport, It is a comfortable 4 hours drive. We embrace our heritage and support local produce. And while Vryburg is called the Texas of South Africa we entertain our guests on mouth-watering braai's. Our facilities are also 4 x 4 and camper van friendly with secured and safe parking for all our guests.
