The hotel and owners were lovely and very welcoming. It is in a quiet village where you can enjoy the countryside and stay away from the very touristy parts nearby, but can still go see them very easily (less than 10 mins away from all the popular hikes, and you get a great view of the mountains as you drive towards them). The dinner menu is great and the breakfast is filling with lots of variety. It gave us a chance to try the different sorts of local cheese!

Beautiful property with a gorgeous spacious room. The staff was very friendly (even with a little language barrier); they were super helpful and kind.

Located next to the car-free centre of Appenzell, Adler Hotel is set in a beautiful traditional Appenzell-style building. Great hotel with charming rooms and services. The location is perfect with car park nearby. The owner is most helpful and very much cares about his guest at any time. The breakfast has a very good choice.

We stayed 2 nights beginning of June. If you like traditional places, you should visit Waldgasthaus Lehmen. You would be surrounded by natural forest with a view on Appenzell Alps. One of the most common sound during the day is various bells on cow necks. We were lucky to see how Appenzell farmers bring their cows to the mountains. The farmers have very beautiful cloths! On Saturday we saw a group of farmers, who came in their traditional dresses to Lehmen restaurant and had a few hours of singing and enjoying food. The restaurant is very good, if you like Swiss food. You must be hiking in that region, otherwise food might be too heavy. I had pork steak, pork schnitzel and beef steak with noodles and mushrooms. All dishes were very tasty. You have to try local beer! And Lehmen whisky! Highly recommended! Very nice! Service is impeccable, fast and attentive. All personnel is very friendly. Breakfast is wonderful! I would prefer, if it started at 7 instead of 8… Our room 17 was great, soft pillows, comfy beds, bath, simple but cozy design. The hotel has a playground for kids. Parking is huge.

It is a beautiful location with a peaceful and serene vibe. I love all the outdoor seating nooks. The host was very friendly and helpful. I wish we had booked more nights at this place.

Breakfast was delicious with a good variety of options. The location is perfect — just a short walk from the train station. I really enjoyed my stay and would definitely love to come back again!

The view from everywhere was gorgeous, but honestly that's just that entire region of Switzerland. What a beautiful country!
