Set in a Grade II listed Tudor building, The Old Crown serves traditional ales. An English menu is served in the restaurant. It was a good price for the location, about 15 minute walk to the centre. The man who checked me in was wonderful, carried my bag up the stairs, explained everything well and was friendly. It was pretty cool staying in a place older than my own country.

They are extremely helpful, cheerful and always fun to talk to. The room was large, the bathroom was on the same scale, lots of windows and, for those hotter days, an excellent fan. The dining room staff were as friendly, interested, and cheerful as the reception and bar staff. I highly recommend staying here.

Opposite Birmingham New Street Station, Comfort Inn City Centre Birmingham offers a 24-hour front desk. The Bullring Shopping Centre is a 2-minute walk away. The room was bigger than we expected, the shower was lush and powerful, and the bed was amazingly comfortable and clean. Just what was needed after a long day of travel.
