This was the most amazing place to stay. The room was huge with plenty of seating, a desk, tea and coffee maker, small fridge/mini bar, air conditioner and a fabulous bathroom. The bed was comfortable. The home has solar panels and we were there the day Sri Lanka had a national blackout. The solar kept everything in the house running for hours, while the rest of the town was completely blacked out. You couldn't ask for anything more than that. The host cooked breakfast to order - you had a choice of Sri Lankan or western, both accompanied by fresh fruit, fruit juice, tea or coffee and as much toast as you could eat. The host is a Doctor and delights in entertaining you. The place could not be better. You have to stay there.

Janaka is THE host—truly exceptional in the hospitality scene in Sri Lanka. He is incredibly kind and welcoming, making us feel completely at home, while also being highly professional and attentive to all our needs. He went out of his way to help us plan our days in Mihintale exactly as we wished—and what he managed to organize for us was no small feat! He was also genuinely concerned for our safety throughout our stay: while Sri Lanka is a very safe country, his attentiveness was still much appreciated. The food cooked by his wife was amazing—made with quality ingredients, prepared beautifully, and full of bold, authentic flavor. Easily one of the top three meals we had in Sri Lanka. If you're planning a trip to Anuradhapura or Mihintale to explore the sacred Buddhist sites, and you're looking for something authentic and off the tourist trail, stay in Mihintale. It's rich with temples and spiritual atmosphere. Stay at Janaka’s place, ask him for advice, and you won’t be disappointed.

David runs a very good hotel. He was very welcoming and helpful. My room was excellent with a comfortable bed, very effective aircon and ceiling fan. Good bathroom with reliable hot shower. Everything very clean and secure. TV with Euronews English language channel. Good WiFi. Nice shady upstairs terrace to sit on. Rented a bicycle at the hotel - 1500R per day. A bit pricey because it wasn't a great bike but it helped a lot getting around the ancient city. Hotel in great quiet location just a few minutes walk from the railway station and not far from the ticket office of the Anuradhapura dagobas. Good cheap restaurant on Main Street a few hundred meters away called the Family Bakehouse (head south on Main Street and it's on the other side of the road). Serves very good curries and rice as well as baked goods

The service was very friendly, outstanding, and ever willing to facilitate our needs, every member of staff was absolutely outstanding, non more so than the ever willing Sahil. The swimming pool is big and very clean, as are the gardens. Loved watching the butterflies, birds and monkeys from our very, very large balcony.

White House Hotel Anuradhapura is a like five stars in hospitality, including rooms, food, location, premises and staff. The restaurant offers a delicious set menu and a buffet with local and international food. Reserve half board/breakfast and dinner, or have breakfast included. The breakfast buffet with fresh omelettes, juice and some sri lankan foods was a highlight. I also enjoyed a delicious dinner by the pool with a special menu, which I highly recommend. The views of the mountain and stupa and anuradhapura city, and I mean it, are truly stunning. The pools are perfectly maintained, and the staff is helpful and happy. The pools are great, and one has a bar. The pools are good for swimming and there are a kids pool The hotel offers a perfect blend of convenience and tranquillity, ensuring a memorable stay. I stayed in their Honeymoon Room and It was wonderful I would like to recommend this room all of married couples for a one day in life. I look forward to returning soon!

Our stay at this hotel was truly delightful. The owner and the staff were exceptionally kind and attentive, going above and beyond to ensure our comfort. Their warm hospitality truly exceeded our expectations. The room we stayed in was incredibly spacious, beautifully decorated, and equipped with all the modern amenities we could possibly need. We particularly appreciated the thoughtful touches that made our experience even more enjoyable. The accommodation charges were very reasonable, especially considering the quality of service and comfort provided. One of the highlights was the unique theme of each room, which added a charming and whimsical atmosphere to our stay. Overall, it was a memorable experience that we would love to repeat.

Its a beautiful place in the countryside, simple and rustic and so pretty ... the bed was very comfortable and both the room and bathroom very clean and the breakfast setting, looking at the garden and land beyond, created a very peaceful start to the day and the omelette was delicious ... the host and his wife are delightful, too!
