It may seem pricey, but this is an experience and an unbelievable one at that. The industrial interior was perfect, the views absolutely stunning... the crane slowly turns with the wind so you see a lot. The host was super helpful too. This is for the adrenaline junkies- the lifts are not for the faint hearted, but its all part of the experience and i think its good to be taken out of your comfort zone every now and then right. Just book it- you will not be disappointed.

Super cool accommodation resort. The sauna complex is classy and rustic, with many beautiful designs, like the Birdnest sauna. The hotel room was spacious and comfortable with gorgeous redesigning of the fort building. Quiet & dark in the morning. I guess being a fort helps soundproofing! I slept extremely well. The included buffet breakfast was delicious! Perfect for a couple's retreat.

Volkshotel is located in the East district of Amsterdam, only 50 metres from metro station Wibautstraat.

With the metro just steps away, it was so easy to go all around Amsterdam and far beyond. I loved the fact that a food store was really close by and it was such a lovely neighborhood.

far enough out the way of town that you don’t hear the night life from Amsterdam centre (if your like me and like your sleep) but close enough to all attractions that you can quite easily walk to. there is a ticket machine for the tram straight opposite the hotel entrance. and there’s a general store/ food shop just across the road on your left. staff were extremely pleasant, there is daily house keeping or as and when you require house keeping- if you prefer no house keeping for the week, they will also accommodate this. staff helpful when anything is needed for your room. and also very knowledgable on the area if you need help with directions around amsterdam. they also help you to your rooms with any bags you may have and offer free tea and coffee throughout your stay. hotel also give you a map of the city with various attractions layer out, a booklet or tours and different attractions that all come with discounted prices when booking at the hotel and will recommend (with a list) different places to eat and drink. the room was spotless with a newly fitter bathroom (luxurious) and the tv was a very very good size! matched perfectly to pictures shown when booking and the balcony was the perfect size and quite private.

The location was ideal for exploring the city. 5 min walk from central station. The staff were very friendly and chatty. The hotel is amazing with the gothic exterior the old counters which were once the shipping office. The food was delicious, from the snacks with a few drinks to a great meal! Hotel is very well maintained and very clean. Beds and pillows were very comfy. We had a canal view on the 3rd floor, it was a large room with a mini bar which was very nice feature.
