The cave bedroom was an exceptional experience. We were lucky as it was the Festa della Bruna in Matera, it was also a wonderful experience to see this spectacular festival. We even saw the firework display from our room.

Very good breakfast and very good location. Very clean. Helpful and friendly staff. Nothing that we didn't like.

The lobby was beautiful and atmospheric, a nice place to relax and have a drink. The staff was friendly and helpful indicating on their map route suggestions up and down the winding paths in Matera and also transportation options when I left for my next town. The view outside the lobby front door is spectacular-a view across to the Duomo. Breakfast had a nice selection of food.

The location is perfect for exploring Matera, and the valet service made everything effortless. We left our car at their partner parking and were picked up directly, which made the whole arrival experience smooth and stress-free. Even though the hotel is relatively new, it feels like it has been welcoming guests for many years. That is a true credit to the management and the entire team, who were warm, professional, and made us feel so well looked after. The food was outstanding, the cocktails were delicious, and the whole atmosphere was romantic and unforgettable. Relais & Châteaux should be very proud to have Vetera Matera in their collection. We are already looking forward to coming back and cannot recommend it highly enough.

Well designed and thought-out (USB ports next to the beds etc). Excellent view from our terrace to the hillside opposite, it was magic at night time. We left our car at Welcome Matera parking for 2 nights (pre - book online). It was a short walk from there. Everything was perfect.
