I had a wonderful stay at L'Hotel In Pietra. The hotel is located in the heart of the Sassi, making it incredibly cozy and charming. The room was perfect for a solo traveler, providing a comfortable retreat after a day of exploring. The location is perfect—easy to walk to nearby restaurants. Breakfast was delightful, with a good selection of fresh pastries, fruits, and hot options. Matera is one of the best places I have visited! I highly recommend this hotel for a cozy and convenient stay in Matera!

From the moment we arrived, we were amazed by the incredible care and attention to detail that has gone into restoring this historic property. The way they’ve blended the charm and heritage of the old building with elegant, modern interiors and thoughtful design is simply stunning. Every corner feels special, and it’s the kind of place where you just want to sit, take it all in, and enjoy the magical ambience. The location is perfect for exploring Matera, and the valet service made everything effortless. We left our car at their partner parking and were picked up directly, which made the whole arrival experience smooth and stress-free. Even though the hotel is relatively new, it feels like it has been welcoming guests for many years. That is a true credit to the management and the entire team, who were warm, professional, and made us feel so well looked after. The food was outstanding, the cocktails were delicious, and the whole atmosphere was romantic and unforgettable. Relais & Châteaux should be very proud to have Vetera Matera in their collection. We are already looking forward to coming back and cannot recommend it highly enough.

Fantastic and very unique hotel. Right in the heart and yet very peaceful. The room was quite big and had all the amenities. The unique old-style swimming pool is the best we have seen in a hotel. Breakfast was great, unique, and filling. All the complimentary experiences were designed with a lot of thought and detail.

Exceptional location right in the middle of the "Sassi" but very close to the new town at just a 5 minute walk. Our host Giuseppe prepared everything we needed to know for us -from where to park the car to busses to take - and gave us all the best tips for places to see and restaurants to visit. His guesthouse is of exceptional quality, brand new restored with tasteful design interior and all the features one could wish for. His personal engagement was refreshing. Matera at Christmas time is very special and maybe a tip to consider.

We enjoyed our stay very much, the perfect place to discover Matera. The room was quiet and spacious with a comfortable bed. Breakfast next door was also good quality. Mirella and Anna are very friendly hosts. We can highly recommend this nice place.
