Opened in April 2017, Hakone Kowakien Tenyu offers Japanese-style rooms with tatami flooring, an open-air bath or ceramic open-air hot springs bath made with Shigaraki pottery. Amazing experience, everything was perfect. Very beautiful place with lovely scenery, highly recommend.

A lovely and large traditional yet modernised family home, and in a great location for exploring the delights of Lake Ashi... with peerless Mount Fuji views just a few metres away!! The property could easily accommodate a family or small group and is great value, therefore. Don't hesitate with this one, as you won't be disappointed! The only downside is that the local eateries when we visited (early April) close relatively early, though you can stock the fridge etc and you have all the implements you need to cook and eat. Oh yes, I nearly forgot the natural and private hot spring bath - a great bonus!!! A very comfortable and relaxing stay in a quiet and small residential area with a helpful and thoughtful owner.

We didn't use it, but there was a bike available, e.g. for shopping at the nearby supermarket. There are instructions for the appliances in English. The rooms were very nice and clean.
