This was a shot in the dark booking since I couldn’t find a place near the beach that was tattoo friendly. We were blown away at the facility, amenities and overall beauty of the location. I booked 3 rooms. Everyone had their own private onsen bath. My husband and I upgraded to the sauna barrel room and we LOVED IT. The guys all did sauna in the morning. They even give you handmade authentic sauna hats. Breakfast was simple but filling. Half of the group did the Japanese style, half did American. My jumbo toast made me feel like I was in a Ghibli movie having breakfast. There is a vending machine in the breakfast area was a variety of snacks and drinks. Our van made it on the roads to the property. So a standard vehicle will have no issue. Beautiful creak flowing in the backyard of every room. Every room has an entrance, toilet & sink room, living room (doubles as bedroom bc you have tatami beds), vanity sink & rack, THEN sliding door to your shower & bath, THEN sliding door to your porch with seating. Our room had the barrel immediately to the left of the porch with ANOTHER outdoor tub. Price was excellent!!

I was the only guest staying at the property at the time. The room was spacious and would be perfect for even a longer stay. The shared facilities included a bathroom with a tub on the first floor, as well as a small kitchenette on the second floor. The cleanliness was top notch, I have no complaints. The owner was the friendliest ever. He gave me a ride to the Seven Waterfalls of Kawazu and had made coffee for me in the morning, even though I had to leave early to catch a train. I would recommend this accommodation to anyone traveling to Kawazu!

I visited with my mom, and having grown up in Tokyo and stayed at many ryokans over the years, this one easily ranks among the very best.

The entire design and style of this hotel are so unique, and I really love it. The facilities are very complete and well-equipped. From the garden, very beautiful sea views could be seen.

Situated just a 2-minute walk from Shirahama Beach in Shimoda, Beach Side Inn Shirahama is cosy friendly accommodation with warm wooden flooring and furnishings. We loved staying at Shirahama Beach Side Inn! The owners were super friendly and helpful. The private onsens were so nice after a long day of walking and hiking. The free breakfast was such a nice touch and so yummy! Softest sandwich bread ever! The eating area was very cozy, I spent some time working there in the morning and it was so peaceful. I came during a rainy time but I imagine during the summer it's very popular for surfers. I am from hawaii and the hotel had lots of Hawaii art which was very sweet to see. We hope to be back someday :)
