The staff was very courteous and helpful, always using a translation app when needed to ensure a clear understanding. Local cafes and restaurants can have odd hours or closing days, so just be aware. The Indian restaurant above the nearby Lawsons was very good, as well as the crepes in the cafe next door, when open. A visit to the local tourist information center was very helpful. The hotel reimbursed our taxi fees from the train station upon arrival and welcomed us with a glass of wine or juice, which was lovely. They also provided transportation back to the train station after checkout.

Gorgeous property, with a real sense of history. Fantastic food in an atmospheric separate dining room. Wonderful onsen with views of the river flowing outside.

We loved Nikko but this villa made our stay more special. It is quiet, clean, very spacious, has a great tv and bed + umbrellas and all the small details you need to accommodate bad weather. We loved our stay.
