El Ryokan Hostel K's House ocupa un edificio de 100 años de antigüedad declarado bien cultural tangible situado en Shizuoka, a 7 minutos a pie de la estación de trenes JR Ito. El hostel es increíble. Una experiencia tradicional japonesa inolvidable. Fuimos a habitación compartida y hubo un problema con un huésped que llegó borracho, pero el personal del hotel lo resolvió rapidísimo y muy amablemente nos dieron otra habitación. El onsen es soñado. Me metí cuando no había gente y pude disfrutarlo yo sola. Incluso llovió y nos dieron paraguas y un aparato para secar las zapatillas. Super atentos. Vayan si o si!!

We ordered dinner (not much is open in the town later in the evening) and it was delicious and well worth the price. The breakfast was probably one of the best we had while traveling. The couple who run the place were amazing. Many of the things they served to us were from their own land (plum wine, rice, homemade yogurt etc). So you felt like you got something unique and special instead of them simply buying things to serve you. The renovations themselves are great also from the live edge single piece bar to all the reclaimed window/screen pieces used to decorate the walls. The aesthetic is like a modern rustic Japanese style. The views from the window were amazing also. In addition, they informed me ahead of my stay of a festival going on in the town the day I arrived. If they had no informed me my plan was to hike to the town the next day but since they informed me, I adjusted my schedule to see the festival.

This was a shot in the dark booking since I couldn’t find a place near the beach that was tattoo friendly. We were blown away at the facility, amenities and overall beauty of the location. I booked 3 rooms. Everyone had their own private onsen bath. My husband and I upgraded to the sauna barrel room and we LOVED IT. The guys all did sauna in the morning. They even give you handmade authentic sauna hats. Breakfast was simple but filling. Half of the group did the Japanese style, half did American. My jumbo toast made me feel like I was in a Ghibli movie having breakfast. There is a vending machine in the breakfast area was a variety of snacks and drinks. Our van made it on the roads to the property. So a standard vehicle will have no issue. Beautiful creak flowing in the backyard of every room. Every room has an entrance, toilet & sink room, living room (doubles as bedroom bc you have tatami beds), vanity sink & rack, THEN sliding door to your shower & bath, THEN sliding door to your porch with seating. Our room had the barrel immediately to the left of the porch with ANOTHER outdoor tub. Price was excellent!!

I came to Japan to practice speaking the Japanese I’ve learned, so I was constantly looking for conversation opportunities. I found the staff talkative and kind despite my limited Japanese. They taught me some phrases and shared their advice to have fun in Shimoda. This makes it great for solo travelers. Furthermore, the place was very comfortable and clean, and the amenities were enjoyable, especially the bike rental.

El desayuno era muy rico, la habitación muy bonita y las amenidades adecuadas. Todo estaba muy limpio y bien acomodado. Me guardaron mis maletas después del check out en lo que recorría la ciudad, son muy amables.

What a gem! We arrived at Kawazu station and Kenji (?) was there to meet us. When we arrived at the property he took our bags up for us and explained all we needed to know. I think we had an upgrade because the room seemed bigger than the one I booked. The room hadn’t been made up yet as we arrived well before check in. We decided to go and do the 7 waterfalls walk and our host was so kind to drive us there. He explained how to get back on the bus and how much it would be. The room was spacious and the beds were very comfortable. We ended the afternoon by using the hot tub which was great. Bathroom and toilets were spotless. Outside the rooms there is boiling water, coffee making facilities, microwave and a wee stove and sink. There is also a sink for washing your face and cleaning your teeth. Be aware there is nowhere to eat close to the hotel. We were aware of this and brought food in with us. We found a tiny basic bakery just down the road and we bought a couple of flapjack type things for breakfast. This property is such good value and our host was kind and friendly. We have been in Japan for a month and this is one of our best stays. Loved it and would certainly recommend. Excellent value.
