This guesthouse is located along one of the Kumano Kodo Pilgrimage Routes and Yunomine Hot Spring, said to be one of the oldest hot springs baths in Japan, is a 5-minute walk from the property.

There are 2 indoor hot springs baths and an open-air bath at the property. I stayed in the shared rooms. I had plenty of privacy as each bed was in a walled-off cubby hole. The three Onsen on site were excellent and the bus stop was a couple of minutes walk away. It’s situated right along the Kumano Kodo route and perfect for a day or two hiking.

Rooms feature tatami-mat flooring, comfortable futon bedding and paper sliding screens. They are fitted with an LCD TV and a safe. Bathroom facilities are shared, and the public baths are open 16:00-22:00 and 06:00-09:00 daily. Lovely room, great location, nice to be able to enjoy on site meditation, as well as prayer ceremony and fire ritual.

200 metres from Kumanokodo Nakahechi Museum of Art, 民宿 和合 Minshuku WAGO is a recently renovated property set in Tanabe and offers air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi and private parking. It is located 29 km from Kamitonda Concert Hall and features full-day security. The guest house has parking on-site, a hot tub and a shared kitchen. Very nice host and the food and bento was delicious and perfectly made for kumano kodo. I highly recommend

39 km from Kishi Station in Koyasan, 高野山 宿坊 光明院 -Koyasan Shukubo Komyoin- provides accommodation with access to a hot tub. It is situated 45 km from Matsushita Park and offers luggage storage space. The ryokan features rooms with air conditioning, free private parking and free WiFi. It was such an amazing experience. Thank you to the monk staff who were so kind and patient and guided us through meditation custom and practices. Our room included shojin ryori (buddhist vegetarian cuisine) breakfast and dinner which was very balanced and filling. I feel a sense of gratitude and peace coming back to Tokyo. I would like to go every year if I can.

I definitely stay again, maybe even a night more to enjoy the beautiful countryside.
