This guesthouse is located along one of the Kumano Kodo Pilgrimage Routes and Yunomine Hot Spring, said to be one of the oldest hot springs baths in Japan, is a 5-minute walk from the property.

There are 2 indoor hot springs baths and an open-air bath at the property. Everything was very clean and orderly. Beds were very comfortable and duvets very warm in colder November weather. Lovely common area and a nice shared kitchen with free evening rice and morning porridge. Access to private onsen which was a real treat! This was some of the best value for money I’ve seen - highly impressed! Completely exceeded my expectations.

Rooms feature tatami-mat flooring, comfortable futon bedding and paper sliding screens. They are fitted with an LCD TV and a safe. Bathroom facilities are shared, and the public baths are open 16:00-22:00 and 06:00-09:00 daily. we could get great experience in Ekoin , vegetarian food was also good. All monks and staffs are friendly and warm welcome. They are good looking too! 😊 Participate all programs of the temple was great. we joined meditation , morning service , fire ritual and night cemetery tour.

The ryokan features rooms with air conditioning, free private parking and free WiFi. Great location, just a few minutes’ walk from the start of the atmospheric path to Okunoin Temple. Food was excellent and the Buddhist monks who run the place take good care of you. The meditation sessions, and especially the fire ritual, are memorable. Fantastic value overall.

The place is interiorly fournished in the traditional style with a last centiry-themed (50/60/70s? - not quite sure, but it is beautiful) dining room. The dinner and breakfast were superb! The hosts offered to guide us to koyasan (one hour drive one way) the next day. We were running a bit late and the hosts very worried about us - we want to say thank you once again for your patience.
