J-Hoppers Kumano Yunomine Guesthouse is situated in Hongu, a 10-minute drive away or a 70-minute walk on the Kumano Kodo Pilgrimage Route from Kumano Hongu Taisha Grand Shrine. The hostel was fantastic. We rented a tatami room, which was spotless, very comfortable and with a really nice view. The onsen was amazing, we absolutely loved it. Everything was clean, there were snacks, eggs to boil in the onsens in town and all cooking and serving tools to eat them afterwards. The bathrooms were incredibly clean. This was our favourite stay along the Kumano Kodo, despite being the cheapest.

Everything was great, specially our host Ike. He was super friendly and offered us a small taste of sake, he even offered to do our laundry. The dinner and breakfast that was prepared was great. Be sure to order the lunchbox since it’s a long way and there’s only 1 place to eat along the way after 3 km. The location was good and the room was clean. Certainly would recommend to anyone.

The entire experience from train to cable rail car, is all part of an experience that is priceless. Nearby sites and the town itself on Mt. Koya are unbelievable.

From being picked up at the train station, delicious homemade meals with records playing in the background, a beautifully appointed home, friendly and helpful hosts, riding through the countryside on electric bikes and being driven to & picked up from Koyasan. Such a special experience.

Located in the sacred Mount Koya area, 高野山 宿坊 桜池院 -Koyasan Shukubo Yochiin- is a historic temple and an accommodation for visitors. Everything is magical. The food, the place, the bath, the staff, the morning ritual. One of the best experiences involving accommodations I've ever had.
