Located in the heart of Waikiki Beach, Oahu, the OUTRIGGER Reef Waikiki Beach Resort features beautifully renovated guestrooms and suites with a modern Hawaiian feel and sweeping ocean views. The location was excellent, close to tons of restaurant, stores and activities. The room was large and very comfortable, and the staff always very friendly. The pool was very nice and relaxing. The beach right in front of the hotel was practically nonexistent, but walking about a minute to the right you can get to a wonderful beach. The convenience store inside the hotel was also very useful.

The property is absolutely wonderful. Nice, natural landscaping that let's you feel immersed in the Hawaiian rainforest. Feels very secluded and private, while also feeling safe and welcoming. Its walking distance to a black sand, clothing optional, beach. I will definitely book here again when visiting the Big Island. I would feel safe here as a solo traveler. Stephen greeted us when we arrived to the property and was so welcoming. I immediately felt at ease in his presence. He gave us a tour and showed us to our rooms, let us know how to reach him if we needed anything. Our smoke alarm was going off one night and he came right over, checked it out and swapped the battery, fixing the problem. I traveled with a friend and we each had separate rooms. The house feels more home like, relaxing front porch, solid wood furniture, and everything you'd need. Both rooms were clean and beds comfortable. At first, I thought my bed may be too soft, but I slept SO good and woke with no pains, feeling refreshed, so it must have been just right. Bath and beach towels were in our rooms, a bathrobe, a list of hosted and local activities we may be interested in, and a little bowl of snacks too. I also appreciated they had sunscreen and bug spray available.

The facility was clean and spacious with everything advertised PLUS lots of extras including coffee with sugar and creamer as well as lots of beach towels, chairs, coolers and bags, snorkel gear, and boogie boards. Troy was super friendly and full of great information about how to best explore the island. The location felt safe and was a great home base close to several beaches, hikes, Volcanoes National Park, and Kona (you will need a vehicle). The terrain and view were especially “Big Island” and perfect for sunset and star gazing.

The bed was super comfortable and the backyard was very mellow to hang out in at the end of the day. We also loved the chirping frogs. Breakfast was bagels with cream cheese, granola and yogurt, coffee and fresh fruit.

The view I had from my room was phenomenal. Hotel is at a great location near the beach and on the main road where all the activity happens. Room was spacious and very comfortable.
