Can't praise enough this hotel. The staff was hospitable, the rooms were clean. The hotel was peaceful and quiet, the breakfast was a great selection and the location of the hotel is prime since it's just adjacent to the Duomo.

The kindness of the staff was the most important asset of the hotel. Everyone from the lady at the reception, the colleague who took away our car to park it, the gentleman who was serving at breakfast (and also brought our car from the parking) were really nice and helpful. I liked the smell inside the hotel, bed was comfortable, bathroom was new and fully functional and breakfast was surprisingly complete for Italy, everything to suit anyone’s taste. Location was top, near everything and also valet parking was very useful.

Our 3-night stay in the Altarocca Wine Resort was the highlight of our holiday in Italy. After the heat and crowds of Rome, it was a haven of quiet and beauty, set amongst vineyards and olive groves, perfect for a few quiet, lazy days. Also a great base to discover the region - Orvieto, Rocca Ripesena, Civita di Bagnoregio. We booked a picnic in the vineyards and spoiled ourselves with the Oil & Spa Experience. It was just magic. Our rooms were located in the Borgo del Vino; we had lovely big rooms, comfortable beds and air conditioning (essential in Italy in the summer!). It was a short (beautiful) walk to the Villa Gualtieri where the reception, breakfast room and spa were located. Both areas have their own swimming pool with loungers and bar.

What an amazing hotel! A newly renovated 500-year-old building in a perfect location. The staff could have been more accommodating! Loved it!

Breakfast was fab, staff was super-friendly and really went the extra mile in every aspect of guest relations. The hotel is new (or has been completely redone. Rooms were very comfortable, bathrooms perfect, clean. Location was bang in the middle of town. Just the perfect stay.

Go to the archaeology museum just next to the Duomo to evade crowds and see a fantastic collection of Etruscan pottery, frescoes, and other historical objects that put Orvieto into perspective. Crowds are light and staff very helpful. It's not too large so not overwhelming.

Make plans to see it day and night.

Make plans to see it day and night. The facade is amazing and sparkles in the afternoon sun as well as in the evening lights. Book your stay at the hotel to the left of the Duomo with a direct view to the quiet square. The place is magical.
