The view from the balcony is amazing. It is lovely to watch all the action down below on the 9 arches bridge. It is a little remote but there is a great little cafe run by the same family just below the cabin for some food and drinks, if you don't want to go into town for dinner. Also the owner is extremely helpful, thoughtful and he will pick you up from the train take you into town and pick you up anytime. He is lovely and as a solo traveller, it felt completely safe there. Also I had an early pick up for a tour at 5.15am and the owner made sure that I rearranged an alternative pick up point because cars cannot access the cabin, only tuk tuks. He then took me at 5.00am to the meet up point in his tuku tuk and also packed me a breakfast. At the end of my stay he arranged for a car to take me to Mirissa for a good price. On my second day I was there for breakfast and it was fantastic. I totally recommend this cabin if you want to stay out of Ella town and have an incredible view of nature and the bridge.

The location is great, 5 minutes of walking from the busy main road which is just perfect. The hosts, Obey and his wife, are spectacular! My partner didn't feel well and they helped us with everything we needed and even more! The room is spacious and has everything you need, from shower amenities to a mini fridge and a kettle. The breakfasts were delicious! I recommend the Sri Lankan breakfast. Air conditioning worked very good as well. Overall I highly recommend it. Thank you Obey!

Great views best to go to the bar above it some amazing views also easy to get train from Ella till the next station which goes over the bridge we managed to get photos & video hanging outside the door which looked unreal!!!

Beautiful, but long walk down and up if you are not 100% fit...

Beautiful, but long walk down and up if you are not 100% fit or a bit older. Tip - get a Tuk Tuk up from where the stairs stop. It’s a premium price but worth it. It’s muddy and slippery if it’s been raining, so don’t risk your ankles or knees.

The rickshaws shouldn’t charge more than 500rs one way. They stop at a point beyond which it’s a steep descent on stairs and some narrow but safe enough pathways that lead to the bridge. Therefore the walk back is also a steep incline. There are monkeys who mind their business. Or you can choose to walk the entirety of it. It took us 1 hour to go and come back with ampke breaks and a slow pace. My 60+ year old parents with above average to good fitness levels could do it.

Fairly strenuous walk down to the bridge, which in it's self is a wonderful feat of British engineering and Sri Lankan effort!. However, our anticipation was dampened by the sheer volume of other tourists on the bridge (at least 1000) all waiting and jostling for the best spot to get a photo of the anticipated train. There are far more beautiful and less touristy things to see and do in Sri Lanka than this.

For me 100/100.

For me 100/100. Beautiful bridge, fabulous views all around, the road to the viaduct itself leads through a fabulously green forest. Some trains stop on the viaduct, so there is time for a photo session:-))) It is also nice to have a coffee (or Ceylon TEA!!!) in one of the cafes by the viaduct, watching the trains passing by and the wonderful views of the area.

Best to go for early morning train times as there are less...

Best to go for early morning train times as there are less people. We went in the afternoon and it was still wonderful. You can walk around 3kms (quite steep though in parts) or you can take a tuk tuk for around 3000 LKR (and they wait for you to return to Ella).
