Fabulous hotel! Great service! Room and everything is superclean, new, comfy! Rooftop bar is amazing, great views, life music!. Coffee at downstairs is excellent (not sure why some rate it bad), price is not that bad (large Americano 6.5, regular 4.5). Absolutely loved every second in that hotel and would return! Some downsides: my room was on 11th floor and I heard talking, music from rooftop bar until 1 am but airplugs blocked it so I was not bothered much, you can sleep well. Bed is super, linen as well. Shampoo in the room had finished - they refilled quickly. Fridge does make loud noice in the middle of the night - the fix is that you open the door and close it again which stops the noice. Keycard in the lift needs to be hold on the reader long time. But, these were all minor issues, and did not bother me. Go to a community grocery store and a wine store-bar (2 min) - they are excellent. My new home in SF for sure.

the mall had maybe two shops and all the others had closed...

the mall had maybe two shops and all the others had closed down, was quite disappointing. there are still a few shops in and around union square, but few and far between. didn't have the cool vibe it used to have. quite a few people high on drugs or sleeping in the streets - no issues, but definitely has a bit of an edge to it.

Sadly Union Squares gone so downhill, tbh it couldn't get much worse. So many empty shops. This wasn't for first trip to San Francisco, regrettably it will be our last. The change in the last six years is massive. We didn't feel particularly safe there, which wasn't helped by all the signs warning you. Our first night there must have been 100-150 motorbikes and Quads all racing down the Main Street, with loads of the bikes pulling wheelies, this wasn't an official organised event simply a load of bikers took it upon themselves. There was one police car with its lights flashing but nobody taking an ounce of notice.

Close to a lot of nice cafes and shops. The staff in the subway are pretty touchy, and you have to get the clipper card to use public transport. The area going away from the wharf is quite seedy, like an open-air opium den with drug users injecting in public. Some of the cafes included taxes of ~$30USD, bringing out breakfast for 2 to $85. Better to ask ahead. Expensive place overall.

It’s a beautiful area, but just be a little cautious about the amount of homeless people… sometimes these people can be harmful, just put up your radar and be wise !!! Dont matter which city you go to on this Earth you always have to be wise and make safety your number one priority!!!!

We loved that this was a traditional San Francisco hotel in a great location on Union Square. We particularly liked all the special touches on offer…such as a pillow menu, coffee machine in lobby with delicious cookies and popcorn. We had lots of fun at the bar chatting to Alicia the barmaid.

There are no dining facilities at the hotel however they do provide recommendations and discounts on a variety of nearby restaurants, bars and diners. Staff were friendly, and the rooms were clean. Location is fantastic, a 2 minute walk from Union Square.

The hotel is conveniently located close to Union Square and city center. It is a well curated and clean hotel despite having a small lounge. Comfortable bed. A special mention for three staff, everybody I met from the reception to the restaurant was very kind and helpful.

The hotel is very well located, near the Powell metro station and Union Square! There's a Target about a 5-minute walk away and a Ross Dress for Less a few steps from the hotel. The hotel isn't modern, but it's very clean, except for the hallways! I stayed in a room facing O'Farrell Street. Don't do that! The noise is infernal. But the lovely Maryline changed my hotel, and I ended up in the back. I slept very well! Some rooms have a refrigerator! And don't forget, there's a shared kitchen on the second floor!

The room was very clean and bed comfortable. Hot water in the shower and all supplies you needed for your stay. Staff were welcoming and very obliging with supply of a kettle for the room. Hot drinks in the morning in reception was a nice touch plus fresh water dispenser in the lobby. Hotel itself well decorated from an older era, but not worn! Location was great for all tours and close to Union Square for one of the trolley buses. And lovely place for coffee and breakfast along the street.

I booked at the last minute online and was happy to arrive to 24/7 reception as we arrived late! Friendly staff greeted us and room key given promptly. Room was clean and bed really comfortable. Hotel in a good location - north end of Union Square but an easy 30 minute walk to Fisherman’s Wharf. Breakfast was good and was included in the rate . A lovely open fire made for a warm and comfortable stay.
