Ideal for nature-lovers looking for a self-sufficient getaway, lodges are fully furnished and self-catered. Usually made of wood and surrounded by forests or mountains, lodges can be part of a group or a single unit. More remote than holiday homes, lodges are popular for safari trips.
The lodge is located in a very nice place, despite of the fact, that the Thamalakane River was arid.
The staff was fantastic, both the reception and the support team. Very good "safaris" were organized by the lodge, one to Mokoro (Okavango), one to Moremi Game Reserve, with local guides.
Food is excellent. Breakfast is rich, dinner is depending of the number of guests, menu or buffet, but the foods are excellent in both cases.
The room is very cosy during the day, but...
I had an incredible three-night stay at the island safari lodge! The highlight for me was undoubtedly the delectable food; the chef's skills were truly remarkable. The staff, from Tumo the bartender and the attentive waitstaff to the diligent housekeeping team, made my stay exceptionally comfortable. The rooms were not only cozy but also impeccably clean. Overall, a fantastic experience that left me thoroughly satisfied.
The room was clean and the food was good. We had a buffet and a la carte. The location was at the Thamalakane river but it was dry when we where there (July). The staff was friendly and helpful. After the stay we booked a 2 night safari in Moremi and Kwai with Planet Safari (right across the street) which was a wonderful experience. After that we came back again at Thamalakane lodge for 1 night.
