This place was an absolute experience! The views were seriously breathtaking and most of all if you are looking to relax, connect with nature and have the best time disconnecting this is the ideal place. The food served was really delicious as well. Would recommend this 100% to anyone travelling solo or with a family.

We stayed 2 nights at the Sigiri art home. It is a lovely place hidden in the jungle. From the comfortable furniture at the patio, you can enjoy the sights of the beautiful garden. When we arrived we were welcomed very kindly. The room and bathroom were clean and the bed was very comfortable. The AC functioned perfectly. In the morning we got a delicious Sri Lankan breakfast. The host and his wife are kindhearted and want to make sure your stay is up to your wishes. When we ran out of gas with our rented tuk tuk, the host even brought us to a gas station to get a bottle of fuel. He was truly a lifesaver.

The tree house was nestled amongst trees, private, clean, and beautifully presented. The hosts were wonderful, cooked us some lovely meals, showed us their amazing garden and were able to provide transport to key sights and the wholesale food market.

What a lovely and helpful host! We only had 1 day at Dambulla and she made sure to fulfill our wishes for the surroundings. Her husband drove us to a nice ayurvedic center for a massage in the evening. Her diner (Kotu!) was amazing. Good lunch next door at Ceylon Gracious Kitchen, a place the host recommended. They arranged a driver for us to our next place. We felt very welcome 🙏

The property was in great condition, very clean and well maintained. It’s located in the country side, so you get to see how locals live, however, it is a 5 minute drive to the Main Street of sigiriya making it a convenient location. The owner is a very polite and kind local, who takes you on tours through the countryside to see how locals live. I have never had someone be so willing to take us out without asking for money in return. He spent 7 hours driving us around to all the nice places in Sigiriya, and when we tried to give him a generous tip as a thank you, he declined the offer multiple times. He made our trip priceless and I would highly recommend staying here.

I had a very good time staying at Machcha. Kamal is a great host. :) The bungalow has two rooms with terrace in a beautiful garden. You can hear and see the birds and lay down in a hammock under the trees. The owner makes breakfast with love (fresh fruits, tea, avocado with toast/Roti, smoothie, egg). The location is perfect for exploring Sigiriya Lion Rock or have a day trip to Polonnaruwa. The nature is very nice. ;) Your host can help you with information about tours and what to explore around. It's also easy to connect with other travellers in the hostels around. The rooms are big, clean and very nice. With a big bed and A/C. The host was exceptional, making me feel right at home and going out of his way to help with everything, from organizing attractions and tuktuk to go around Sigiriya to helping me when I needed. His care and dedication made all the difference. The room was nice, spotless and had everything I needed, offering both comfort and practicality. Breakfast was a daily delight, with homemade local dishes that were not only delicious but also varied and thoughtfully prepared. The garden was a peaceful oasis, full of life with birds enjoying fruits – such a calm and relaxing scenery. And the view of Lion Rock? Simply beautiful with the rice fields around. I couldn’t have asked for a better stay – everything was perfect, and I wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone!

The family that owns the apartments is incredibly friendly and always available if you need anything. We are truly grateful to have met them and stayed at their place. The room was clean, with enough space for two large suitcases and three backpacks. Traveling with a child, we especially appreciated how much she enjoyed exploring their yard and the surroundings. Breakfast was delicious, and Nimsara’s mom always made sure to prepare something suitable for our little girl as well. Just a few minutes away, there are several great restaurants—especially Wihara Restaurant, where you must try their curry and kottu. There is also an emergency clinic nearby; our child had contact with a caterpillar, so we went for advice, and the staff was very kind and helpful. Before visiting Pidurangala Rock, I read online that it’s best to go with a guide (especially with a child) and that we would need headlamps or flashlights. In reality, the path is well-lit, and no extra assistance is needed, even if you're not in great shape. We had asked Nimsara’s brother to accompany us since we weren’t aware of this, and we are very grateful for his help—such a caring family! Yes, you may find a few frogs in the bathroom, but remember, you're in nature! They won’t jump on you or bother you—they just stay in their place. We had a wonderful experience at Nimsara Lodge and would love to visit again!
