Ricky has a dream to make a lovely, comfortable, friendly place to stay for travellers in Caraz-and he is doing a great job of it. Our balcony private double room was a good size, nice views over town, warm comfortable bed and good hot shower with pressure. Ricky is a terrific host, smiling, happy and wanting to ensure you have the best experience possible. He helped with taxis and tours and was always willing to chat or help with anything. This isn’t 5 star- it is authentic, local guy making a lovely hostel for guests to enjoy.

Perfect place to stay in Caraz if you love animals, nature & finding that home from home. Ricky's increibleyy attentive, always happy to help however he can & share a tea. Comfy beds & an amazing space to relax and soak up the sun in the garden before/after a hike. I was only going to stay a night or two & ended up here for almost a week. Great location right at the start for the hike up to San Juan & only 10/15mins walking to the main plaza + market. Shop right across the street & a guaranteed good time, can't wait to get back here and see how Ricky's dream grows from here.

Pukayaku is one of the best guesthouses we‘ve ever stayed at, with two wonderful, spacious rooms with hammocks and a private patio set in a very lovely garden with stunning mountain views all around. Also, Belissa and Jorge are amazing hosts, who looked after us so we’ll, we felt like visiting friends. They helped us organise transportation, booked restaurants for us, kept our luggage while we hiked the Santa Cruz Trek, helped us plan said trek, and Belissa made the most delicious vegetarian breakfasts for us :-) If you ever come to Caraz, you should definitely stay at Pukayaku! And if you’re wondering - Caraz is a far more convenient starting point for trips to Laguna 69 and the Santa Cruz Trek.

Casa Pukayaku Lodge has been the best place I have stayed throughout my travels in Peru. It is a wonderful place to relax, has beautiful views, amazing food, very clean, and has the best host! Beilssa and her husband were so accommodating we felt at home right away.

We had a fantastic stay at Pukayaku lodge in the beautiful and tranquil surroundings. Belissa and Jorge are such wonderful and welcoming hosts. The food was so delicious and we both enjoyed the home-brewed artesanal beer. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean. We didn't want to leave!
