This is a very beautiful, well-designed eco hotel in a calm setting that we truly appreciated during our visit. There are lots of thoughtful touches in the design of the whole place, from the quiet and relaxing dining hall with open sides looking out on the tropical foliage, the excellent food served for lunch and dinner, the trails winding both inside the property (where you can spot beautiful birds in the adjoining plantain farm, friendly cats, dogs, peacocks and chickens on the hotel grounds, and, if you are lucky, sloths high up in the canopy) and all across Isla Fuerte. All the buildings are well-designed and attractive, without being overly fancy or out of place. A hidden gem. We stayed in one of the bungalows, which are located a short five-minute walk from the main hotel. The quiet, spacious room was a very relaxing place, and the ceiling fan kept the temperature fairly comfortable even on very hot days. A very comfy bed with mosquito netting and an open-air bathroom/shower (be prepared, you'll encounter frogs and even hermit crabs in there!) made for a peaceful haven in the woods (the bungalows are built in the shadow of an enormous banyan tree, one of the natural attractions of the island at your doorstep). The Ecolodge has excellent, well-designed maps of the island with information about the village and the various beaches, natural areas, and reefs that visitors can enjoy, as well as information about their internal systems for rain collection and more. Visitors can sign up for scuba trips, or simply rent a kayak and snorkeling equipment.
