A stovetop and kettle are also provided. The girl who checked us in was very friendly and had very clear explanations for everything! She really helped us when we were ill-prepared for the Jomon Sugi hike, which we appreciated a lot! There were complimentary welcome drinks and a dessert on the second day which were delicious. The cabin was clean with all the facilities you could need, plus there was a hose in the front yard for you to clean your hiking shoes. The morning view from the deck was also amazing! Note the accommodation is about 15 minutes drive south of Anbo, so it is a bit out of the way of the main attractions, but it wasn't a big deal as we enjoyed the peace.

Hokkoma Aso Private cottage 1棟貸しコテージ南阿蘇, a property with a garden and a terrace, is located in Aso, 35 km from Egao Kenko Stadium Kumamoto, 45 km from Suizenji Park, as well as 46 km from Hosokawa Residence Gyobutei. This lodge provides free private parking, room service and free WiFi. We stayed for 2 nights at Hokkoma cottage and loved our stay. The property itself was wonderful, had everything we needed and felt like home. Our trip was focused on taking advantage of Aso's beautiful nature and the cottage's location allowed us to do this. It was also great to know that there was a large bath to use after the hike to soak our tired legs!

Yakusugi Land is 17 km from the lodge, while Shiratani Unsuikyo is 28 km away. Yakushima Airport is 7 km from the property. Located near the bus stop 62 if you don't have a car. Also well located to hike the Arakawa trail, I was able to take the first bus without problems. You can also order bento for the trail the day before if you want to, which is super convenient. Also located near a supermarket and the main town, if you want to buy supplies or eat in a local restaurant. It was super clean and super comfortable.

The restaurant at the lodge specialises in European cuisine. Outstanding cottage with great views and lovely friendly hospitality. Calm and personal hosts. Attention to detail in spades: we’ll be back!

The staff were so thorough to ensure my stay was comfortable. The outdoor bath is one of the best I've experienced in Japan. It's in a beautiful Part of the country and we'll worth a stay. I didn't want to leave

Kuju Flower Park is 1.8 km from the lodge, while Guernsey Farm is 5.8 km from the property. Kumamoto Airport is 60 km away. I echo other reviews. The Host couple was very hospitable and obviously take great pride in this place and providing excellent service and meals. The room was very large and comfortable. Setting was very peaceful and we enjoyed the onsens after dinner. Unfortunately it was cloudy so we didn’t get to use the telescope. Make sure you are accurate with your arrival time and punctual for dinner. The dinner is many courses so needs to be prepared well in advance. They take great care in preparation and serving the dinner so being punctual is the courteous thing to do. Allow extra time as google maps seemed to provide very optimistic drive times in the area.

The house is very nice and very cozy. It is very warm and the place is very beautiful! Even my mum and dad who do not normally say anything was very vocal how much they love the place. The owners were very helpful and very warm people too. Just a note that you cannot go here without a car because it is in the middle of the forest. But renting a car and going here was the best decision we have made for our whole Fukuoka trip!

If you would like to discover the area, hiking and cycling are possible in the surroundings and the lodge can arrange a car rental service. It was a wonderful house and super value for money. It was clean and big and can easily host a big group. There are also nice restaurants nearby.
