The chalet was clean, spacious, and well-equipped, with a beautiful natural setting close to the main attractions. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious and freshly prepared, making our stay very comfortable. A special mention goes to Mr. Lasantha, who gave us massive support throughout our stay. His warm hospitality, attention to detail, and genuine care made a big difference. Furthermore, he arranges Sri Lankan cooking lessons for foreign guests, which is a wonderful initiative to share our food and culture with the world. What impressed us most is that all of this is offered at an affordable price, and the team works tirelessly 24/7 to give their very best to guests. Overall, Rock Shade Chalet is a perfect place for a peaceful family getaway, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Sigiriya.

Peaceful, clean and chilled location. The owners were very kind, helpful and hospitable, they kept checking on us even though we were barely staying for one night. The food was lovely, simple and exceptional. It’s way more worth than the price they charge. Worth the money. It’s a must stay if you are looking for a getaway with serenity.

Everything was exceptional! I stayed here around five years ago, and the place is still maintained beautifully with the same level of cleanliness. Highly recommend staying here. Even without AC, you don’t feel hot because of the trees surrounding the property. Plus, the served fish curry is absolutely awesome!

Anil has been a fantastic host. He's very welcoming, funny, helpful and generous. He drove us to all places and cooked us with his wife delicious dinners at unbeatable prices. The breakfasts were also amazing. His place is nice and quiet, well located and the swimming is a great addition. Definitely recommended for a great experience in Sigiriya

Honestly, the absolute highlight of our trip to Sri Lanka! Out of all 7 weeks in Sri Lanka our 3 nights here were the best, and it was 90% due to this Homestay!!! We felt amazingly at home! Chamika was WONDERFUL. He hiked up to pidurangula with us and brought us surprise coffee in a coconut, and didn’t ask for anything in return! We did a cooking class and ate some of the best food ever, and chamika went to swim in a lake with us! The room was as exactly as described with comfortable beds. The breakfast was amazing everyday and just laying on the rock with a view of the lake was stunning! Overall if I could rate this place 1000 stars I would! Thank you guys so much!

Set amidst a natural landscape, Back of Beyond – Pidurangala offers a peaceful getaway in Sigiriya. A true experience to sleep right in the middle of the jungle. You would most probably need to be picked up 2kms from the house as the last bit of the road is very rough and you need a 4x4.
