We liked everything about Hares Rest. The location is perfect and the Lodge is very comfortable and clean with a fabulous vista surrounded by beautiful gardens. Alli and Glyn, the hosts were friendly, welcoming and helpful and they provided us with everything we needed for a perfect stay. The breakfast hamper Alli provided was very special and included her fresh homemade bread and granola, locally sourced fresh produce and her homemade treats, were delicious. The tranquil and relaxing environment of the lodge was fabulous and is near to Lake Taupo and a number of attractions in the surrounding area.I would not hesitate in recommending Hares Rest.

The location was 10 minute drive from the centre of Taupo, breakfast was excellent. Angie and Garth were incredibly friendly giving us help with places to eat and all around the local area. Despite the cold weather in New Zealand for summer we had a fire in the lodge to keep us warm.

The rooms are equally wonderfully, each having access to a Porch, rolling grass and the river view.

Nina was great at making you feel welcome and had great suggestions for activities in and out of town. I would stay here again any time!

We booked a small studio to do the tongariro alpine crossing from there. We were often told that it was very small but comfortable. The room looked very cozy, but we had no space to prepare our packs properly. Fortunately, after a quick phone call with Jo, she was able to reserve an apartment. It was amazing! Super equipped, very spacious and above all very comfortable. Many thanks to Jo, we were able to switch so easily. We really enjoyed our stay and can only recommend the quarters.

Tongariro Lodge is located in 22 acres of secluded grounds, surrounded by a beautiful garden landscape and along the banks of Tongariro River. We were a family of 5 adults. The house we received was well equipped, clean and tidy and gave a very calm and pleasant atmosphere.
