The Stables stay is our budget-friendly option in our original historic Stables building. These rooms have shared bathroom facilities. If you can budget for the stay, it was well worth it! The staff were amazing, the grounds were beautiful, breakfast was delicious, rooms were comfortable with everything you need and more! It was a truly wonderful experience for my whole family, and we would recommend this to anyone traveling on holiday to Dunedin.

The lodge offers a seating area with a flat-screen TV and a private bathroom with free toiletries, a hairdryer and shower. A fridge is also offered, as well as a coffee machine and a kettle. The room was airy with two separate sliding doors giving access to the garden and decks with tables and chairs for dining outdoors. The room got the morning sun. The bathroom was spacious, and two glass walls of the shower opened right up. The breakfast was laid out for the guests from 8 to 9am, and included mostly breads and sugary things and dairy, which is typical for European breakfasts. I don't eat sugar or dairy, but managed to find enough: boiled eggs, fresh fruit and cold cuts.

A stovetop and toaster are also offered, as well as a kettle. Our cabin was very neat, well kept for us till our arrival. There’s a main heater in the living area, a small one in the bedroom too 2 stoves available for light cooking, and a very clean bathroom Surrounding view is amazing, it’s all different from morning till night time There are 2 horses in front of our cabin from a different owner, fun to be watching them galloping around, nice experience indeed

Lake Tekapo is 55 km from the lodge, while Glentanner is 41 km away. What I liked: The room was very spacious, the bed extremely comfortable, and the location was both ideal and original. Everything is very well looked after. The hosts were very helpful, and I really appreciated the easy access to the outside at night directly from the room to enjoy stargazing.

It was our last night in the fjordland area before traveling to Queenstown and ending our 2 weeks in New Zealand. We wanted to be in a remote southern location and the Cliffs was a perfect choice. The views and location to the sea was exactly what we wanted. Be sure to visit the beach nearby. Our hosts were friendly, informative and very responsive to our questions. We enjoyed meeting them very much. We have great memories of the Cliffs.

Guests at the lodge can enjoy hiking and skiing nearby, or make the most of the garden. Clean and excellent facilities! The bath tube was great! And the kitty visits were a great addition. The mini fridge and snacks were also much appreciated. The hosts were very responsive and helpful.
