Set on the banks of the Tugela River, 22 km north of Winterton, Tugela River Lodge features self-catering accommodation 13 km from Spioenkop Nature Reserve and 22 km from Winterton Museum. We really enjoyed our time at Tugela River Lodge. There’s so many things to do within the property like kayak, mountain bike, trails, and little farm area. It’s very clean and the staff and owner are super friendly and always willing to assist. The farm stall has a lot of supplies, so if you forget anything you wouldn’t even need to drive out. Very pet friendly as well - everything we could do with our little mini dachshund. She loved her time there and the fenced off area is big and safe. The wood-fired tub is an amazing way to wind down. The view is amazing and Bheki always comes to help fire it up ahead of time. All in all a fantastic experience as a couple, and I’m sure it’d be lovely for a family and friends group too!

We absolutely loved the walks on the property - beautifully thought-out and clearly sign-posted. Paths are so well maintained and points of interest kept up engaged and looking forward to exploring even more.

Featuring a bar, Greenfire Drakensberg Lodge is located in Kruisfontein. The property is solar powered and offers Canadian-style log cabins. The scenery is really something else. You are already quite remote in this part of ZA but once they bring you up with the 4x4 the only people you will encounter are those on the premise itself. The staff is very friendly and the food is great. All in all great value and a very relaxing place with great views and hikes!

Montusi Mountain Lodge offers a bar and is located 44 km from Bergville. Guests receive free Wi-Fi access, a children's playground and a swimming pool. Montusi is my perfect hotel/lodge. Magnificent views over the mountains, cosy rooms, excellent food, pleasant staff, well marked hiking trails- it all makes for a totally relaxing stay.

Surrounded by greenery, the Winterton Lodge @ Rose Cottage features a splash pool. Elegantly decorated, accommodation at Winterton includes a TV with satellite channels and a private bathroom. I had a fantastic stay, the lodge is very central to the surroundings, driving out to different venues daily was very easy and safe. The lodge owners and staff just super awesome, warm and kind,. Self catering units well Equipped and made it feel like home away from home.

We loved this lucky find - River Bend Farm was just gorgeous- the endless views of hills, trees and river are stunning. The accommodation is super comfortable and the shower was bliss! Jenny and Earl were so welcoming, friendly and really passionate about this beautiful area! Thank you for a wonderful visit-we will be back!
