Not only was the food (even catered for vegan) fantastic, but the ability to hike and mountain bike around this huge reserve gave us real freedom to experience the land and wildlife. Surrounded by vineyards and offering a view of the Swartberg Mountains, De Kombuys is situated on a wine farm 3 km from the Cango Caves and 23 km from the town of Oudtshoorn. De kombuys is an exceptional experience to have. The extraordinary surroundings and the organic farm to plate philosophy really does make it an unforgettable and unique experience that we will definitely want to repeat.

Ovner and Staff were so friendly. Breakfast was excellent especially the baked goods (fresh pretzels). Dinner was good and the presentation was excellent. Good variety on the menu. Free drinks were welcomed. Night swimming was good.

Located in the Assegaay Nature Reserve just outside the town of VanWyksdorp, Rooiberg Lodge features an outdoor swimming pool and on-site restaurant all surrounded by the Rooiberg Mountain Range. It was exceptional. We were celebrating our relationship and had an incredible time. The hospitality and quality of the room and services really surprised us, as did the cleanliness and beauty of the entire place. We felt immersed in all the African fauna and flora. It was a great experience, it really surprised us.
