Kinosaki Onsen, Toyooka
Boasting a 160-year history and a beautiful garden, Nishimuraya Honkan offers hot-spring baths and Japanese rooms just 1 km from Kinosaki-Onsen Train Station. A gallery with traditional artwork is featured. Nishimuraya Honkan is an absolutely superb ryokan and amongst the top ryokans I have visited across many onsen towns in Japan. We stayed 3 nights. The atmosphere was beautiful and peaceful, the staff and service top notch, and the food is exquisite. Not all staff speak fluent English, but we had no issues communicating. We had the half board so dinners are served in our room while breakfasts are in a common room, with different menus every day. Every meal was meticulously prepared and a feast. We had the large Japanese style Horai room that had an open air bath (as well as open air shower - some may find it a bit cold in cooler months but it was fine for us in Spring), which was very enjoyable and relaxing. Don't miss the coffee/tea/juice area on the first floor that looks out to a lovely garden, and taking a walk in the garden to see their beautiful koi fish. Although the ryokan is about a 12 minute walk from Kinosakionsen Station, there is a bus from the station that can take you directly to the ryokan, and we were also able to get on the hotel's shuttle back to the station when we left. An amazing and highly recommended experience that's not to be missed if you ever visit Kinosaki Onsen.

Offering private natural hot-spring baths, TSUCHIYA Kinosaki onsen is 1 km from Kinosaki-Onsen Train Station. The Japanese rooms include futon beds and a flat-screen TV. An onsite cafe is available featuring a gallery for free. The entire experience was remarkable. We had a traditional tatami mat room and slept a wonderful night, the futons were surprisingly comfortable. We also opted for their traditional dinner and it was a mind blowing experience. All the courses were well prepared and I had the freshest sashimi I've ever had.

A true 5 star hotel like they used to be with incredible customer service and facilities. Great swimming pool, restaurants and food. Shuttle bus service to and from the main local train station was very convenient and for free before check in and after check out. I would definitely go back next time I visit Kobe.
A beautiful hotel, very classy with amazing staff. Location is ideal and the views are stunning !
It is a traditional onsen so don't expect luxury. Do book a room with a private outdoor bath overlooking the bamboo garden or book a private onsen when you check-in. This is the only way to properly enjoy the property.
Classy. Great view. Very relaxed atmosphere. Helpful staff.
lovely view, spa, and their garden. superb cleanliness throughout.
We booked the suite and I'm telling you it really was worth the money! :) We visited a more modest onsen earlier and this was like a luxury version of it. We were truly relaxed after our stay. I've never seen a hotel room so beautiful and never had a dinner like that before! Breakfast was luxurious too, japanese style. We reserved a private onsen on check-in and it was so lovely also.
It’s understated but in a nice way. Staff are very helpful and welcoming. The private Onsen is so relaxing. It’s a luxury to have it all to yourself. We booked a Kaiseki dinner and it was amazing! A big thank you to the Executive chef Yoshihiro Ogasawara!
The breakfasts and dinners were outstanding - exceeded my expectations at the Ryokan. The four public baths can be used privately on a first come, first served basis and it felt like a luxury to share a large hot spring bath with my partner. The staff, with little english, communicated with us as best they could given we had next to no Japanese. My partner had help with the fitting of het Yukata and the last doing this spent a significant amount of time making sure it was just right.
felt like a 5 star experience without the 5 star price tag exceptional service from the bellman, reception and the bar staff
Outstanding view with quiet location. Dinner and BF were over my expectation. Steak during dinner was superb condition, we think it deserves Michelin star. We stayed for two nights and they adjusted food for us nicely. My kids also enjoyed their food and could not eat them all. Onsen were also great with many baths to choose from. Room got good space that four of us feels very comfortable.
