Located right across the station and a few minutes walk from the ferry port. Perfect accommodation for visits to the art islands especially if you don’t want to stay in the island itself. Building looks very new and was spotless. Very comfortable. Decent breakfast for the price (including tasty glasses of colorful juice). Free pass to the beautiful onsen next door (got outdoor onsen overlooking the ocean).

Located in the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter, Ryori Ryokan Tsurugata offers Japanese-style accommodations in a historical building from the Edo period. This was one of the best hotel experiences I’ve ever had. We stayed as a family of four for two nights, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful always ready to assist us with anything we needed. The Ryokan itself is beautiful and full of rich history. Its location is perfect, right in the center of Kurashiki, Japan’s famous denim town. The food was absolutely amazing, every dish was full of flavor and clearly prepared with care by a skilled chef. The shared bathroom was clean, and it was a great opportunity to experience a traditional Japanese bath. If you book this hotel, don’t forget to take a short evening walk through Kurashiki, it’s truly beautiful.

They took our request for vegan food to heart and provided some of the most delicious food we've had in Japan. Our server, who was originally from Nepal, was excellent and very attentive.
