The ryokan features family rooms. This is a very traditional and even historic "hotel". We booked a corner suite which was honestly Japan fabulous. Overlooking the exquisite gardens and with anything one might want, although very traditionally Japanese. The stone tub private onsen was excellent. We arrived in the midst of a late heat wave and the a/c worked well, even in the "traditional" part of the lodging. Breakfast was served in a private booth and was wonderful. The staff was helpful and attempted to accommodate non-English speakers in our party.

They went out of their way to make our stay really special. I asked at short notice if a small celebration cake could be added to the evening meal for my partner's birthday. It was too late to prepare that, but still they presented her with a small gift at the end of the meal, beautifully wrapped, which was so unexpected! The Japanese breakfasts were delicious and each ingredient was introduced and explained. The evening meal was wonderful, one of the best meals this month in Japan. The room with western beds and a japanese room was very comfy and clean and the onsen was perfect for a small hotel. Overall the hotel was so relaxing and we felt welcome, even though we only spoke a little Japanese. The beach in front was idyllic and the ceramic shops were great, having a chance to meet the ceramicists . The best hotel vidit so far! Thank you!
