I had a fantastic 7-day stay at Villa Rumassala—and I loved it so much that I extended my visit by another 10 days. I was based there while completing a medical elective at a nearby hospital, and the villa offered the perfect balance of comfort and tranquillity. Tucked away from the main road, it felt like a peaceful retreat, complete with a serene pool and fresh towels provided daily. The Villas are located about 15 min walk from the main Unawatuna beach and shopping/food area or a short tuktuk ride to Jungle beach (unless you're ok with walking up some steep hills!). The rooms were spacious, exceptionally comfortable, and featured modern, spotless bathrooms. I particularly appreciated the communal kitchen area, which included a kettle and a washing machine—small touches that made a big difference during a longer stay. There was 24/7 security, making me feel safe throughout my stay. There was also a small gym that was open 24/7, however it did not have aircon which might put people off using in the Sri Lankan heat! What truly made my time unforgettable was the staff. They were incredibly warm and welcoming, always making sure I had everything I needed. I was even invited to join in the Sinhala New Year celebrations—a beautiful and memorable experience. A special thank you to Sasini, whose kindness and attention to detail ensured I was comfortable throughout my stay.

The staff was very kind and attentive. The food was a bit pricey after adding all the taxes and service charge, but it was really good.

Amazing views of coconut trees, the pool, and the Indian Ocean. The beach is very well equipped, not crowded, right at the hotel's doorstep, with sun loungers, canopy beds, and staff to monitor and assist guests. The place is very calm and relaxing. The hotel is like a secluded island in an area that doesn't have much interest in itself. The highlight: the restaurant serves excellent food, worthy of a starred restaurant, catering to all tastes at reasonable prices. The breakfast is also excellent, nothing like the bland international food of big hotel chains. The chef was attentive to our needs and tried to fulfill every wish we had. What's more, for my husband's birthday, we were offered a cake and a bottle of wine. We really felt pampered in Ahu Bay. Thanks again to all staff for this memorable holiday!

The area is popular for cycling, and car hire is available at this 5-star hotel. Location is perfect. The only hotel in the beach, there is no one a couple of kilometers each side. For comparison, if you go to Unawatuna you will see the difference, the very negative one. Service. The staff is very nice. Restaurant food is gorgeous. Have compared it with the best restaurants in Galle. Beach and view from the balcony are very nice.
