Beach very quiet but the under current is very strong so you can’t swim in the sea. There is a large swimming pool to relax in though.

When I check-in I was offered an upgrade to one of their best villas with a pool. Very clean room and amenities. Very good and filling breakfast with a nice restaurant. From food, to kids club to happy hour to just remembering our names and what we’d been doing the day before, the staff were outstanding. We were there over Tamil new year and Easter and they put on amazing cultural events which were phenomenal. We felt like we had an excellent taste of the country before we even left the hotel! Huge shout out to the two ladies in kids club - our boy couldn’t stop talking about pizza making, t shirt painting and rabbit feeding! Alison’s huge shout out to Shamilan who served us breakfast each day where nothing was gone unnoticed! We cannot wait to come back!

The hotel is 68 km from Bandaranaike International Airport. I’m a big fan of Geoffrey Bawa’s architecture. Despite the hotel was full on weekend, I still can feel the peaceful breeze going through each corridors. The staffs were amazing, thank you Erandi for helping me during check in.

This was my second time at this property. Last time, I stayed in a private pool villa. Since I traveled alone this time, I chose a standard room. The room size is quite small but still suitable for a solo traveler. I encountered an issue 15 minutes after check-in, but it was resolved quickly. The hotel is very clean, and the staff are friendly. I particularly liked my room because it faced the beach. As I mentioned, the issue I had was addressed promptly, and the key person responsible was the very professional Guest Relations Executive, Ms. Tharindi. She is welcoming, knowledgeable, and attentive. The main reason I am giving a 10/10 rating is because of her outstanding service and quick resolution of my concern. Every morning, she checks in with guests to ensure their comfort, which I truly appreciate. Having worked in the service industry for the past 12 years, I know how important this level of care is. Ms. Tharindi, you are a valuable asset to this property. Once again, thank you for making my stay at Avani so memorable. I would also like to thank the Front Office Manager, Mr. Jayantha, and the Executive Housekeeper, Mr. Eric, who personally met with me and resolved the issue. Additionally, my gratitude goes to the room attendant who kept my room impeccably clean.

Breakfast was super tasty, a wide range of different food to choice from. In the hotel bar you could taste the best cocktails while playing snooker & pool all with a live band in the background. Every staff member took the time for a friendly chat and were very compassionate and flexible Special thank you for my friend the porter who was smiling all the time and off course Amanda, our host, who combines professionalism with friendliness as I never have seen before.. Always available for a friendly talk and very resourceful.
