Swimming pool was clean and cozy and room was exactly what you would expect and clean. What was amazing is how Staff helped us get back our son's stuffed dinosaur toy which we have left in the room. They wrote to us as soon as they found it and since we were already 2h away they have sent it to our next hotel. But it did not end there- the packaged came full of surprises- including picture story of what the dinosaur was doing while he was on a small vacation without his owner- it was truly lovely and made all of us- especially our son- laugh.

Adam the manager, who proudly explains how he grew up in the motel, shows the personal commitment to the whole place. The support staff are so cheerful and kind making such a pleasant atmosphere. If you're nostalgic for old quality which has been cared for over the years and subtly and gently brought into the 21st century, this is what you'll find. The 1970s wooden front doors and fly screens show that things used to be made to last, and a night in the Highbrook takes you back to a time when life had different values. Of course, the chocolate chip cookies have to have a mention. For me, from the UK, Canada Ginger Beer (without artificial sweetners) was just spot on. I was especially glad I had some as it's perfect to sooth the seasickness on a very rough crossing to Canada. And getting up at 4am is very worth it to climb up Dorr Mountain, which I would recommend over Cadillac Mountain if you're into walking; Cadillac Mountain if you like driving. If you order breakfast for 8.30am, you'll be back just in time and can treat yourself to a nice long bath afterwards as check out isn't until 11am.

Guest rooms at the Bar Harbor Motel feature cable TV and a small refrigerator. They have a coffee maker and ironing facilities. Really great motel with a fabulous retro theme. The staff go out of their way to provide guests with everything they need & then some. They lent us tick spray for our hikes as well as walking poles. It was greatly appreciated. Breakfast was good & our bed was very comfortable. Shower had great pressure & the in-room coffee machine made the morning wake up pleasant. It had a laid back vibe without sacrificing service or efficiency. I noticed they also provided some activities for children. The free shuttle bus to both the Bar Harbor Village Green & Arcadia National Park stopped at the entrance to the motel. we couldn't recommend this motel highly enough.

We stayed in the top building and enjoyed a sea view from the balcony.

Free parking, WiFi, Smart TV's and community fire pits included with every stay. Only a 10 minute drive to acadia and 15 minute drive to Bar Harbor. It was a quaint little cottage, but with everything you needed. I would definitely come back.
