Great CP value. Very quiet area, confy. Not so old and rundown than some ppl said, was expecting worst bcz of the reviews, but it exceed my expectations, it was kind of casual quality. Great hot/cold bath room. Great staff. I've liked the style of the room and hotel in general.

A spectacular location, close to the forest, with the opportunity to walk along nice paths surrounded by beautiful trees. The room was absolutely fine, while the hot spring was a bonus. Breakfast was mainly local style, but we were okay with that. On the whole wonderful for those who love nature

My gf and I have stayed at The Bear on multiple occasions to visit her family and each time we are blown away at how incredibly friendly and helpful the staff is to us. They go out of their way to make your stay great and have always helped us keep luggage there safely as we travelled to other parts of Taiwan. Invaluable to us so that we can go to other areas without having to take massive amounts of luggage with total peace of mind that all is 100% safely looked after. Location is around 10 mins walk from Xinbeitou station, so is one of the more accessible hot spring resorts in Beitou. Views are superb looking onto adjacent park, hot spring museum and library from both the room and the in-house cafe and bar. Room quality was exceptional, on par with a Japanese ryokan - spotless condition, no noise leakage and super comfortable bed and tatami flooring. Hot spring bathtub in room was blissful (did not try the public bath or sauna) with similar view to the main room. Breakfast buffet was great and the complimentary beers and biscuits in the room were much appreciated.

Very relaxing. Room was very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent.
