It's a short walk from the train station (though it does mean it's a bit of a walk to the castle) and the whole place has a really relaxed and charming vibe. Value for money was great, and there are many things to like. Staff is friendly and I really liked the design and setup of the rooms. Then there is the nicely set up onsen on the top floor with an indoor and outdoor bath, as well as a sauna and cold plunge bath. On top of that, there is free ice cream, free yakult in the morning, free ramen in the evening (after 9:30 pm) and free drinks from 3 pm to midnight. Design of the place is very Japanese (shoes in locker at entry) and with all the perks included, we really enjoyed our stay. Plenty of restaurants at walking distance as well. Would return if in Matsumoto again.

The manager is super nice and everything is exceptionally clean. The shared kitchen/living room has a beautiful ocean view and a lot of equipment and free iced tea in the fridge. The private onsen is also very nice, also with an ocean view. It can be reserved for free, you just have to pay the small onsen tax.

Right on the shore of the scenic Kawaguchiko Lake, Hotel New Century boasts spacious Japanese-style rooms overlooking the lake and Mount Fuji. The hotel was wonderful from the very first moment. We arrived by car and found organized parking right in front of the hotel. The staff warmly welcomed us, took photos of us with the cherry blossoms and Mount Fuji, and then handled our luggage. Check-in was very clear and detailed, and our room had a stunning view of the lake and Fuji — absolutely beautiful! The location was excellent, and the traditional Japanese breakfast was both delicious and a memorable experience. We truly enjoyed our stay and even felt a bit sad that we didn’t have an extra day there. Highly recommended!

The staff is very friendly and kind. The room is clean and very cozy. We stayed as a group of seven and everything was wonderful from start to finish. The kaiseki dinner course and breakfast were truly exceptional experiences — absolutely something everyone should try at least once. The hotel staff were incredibly kind and attentive, and the level of service was top-notch. I also noticed that assistance was available in several different languages, which was very impressive. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the hotel also has an onsen, which was perfect for relaxing after a long day. I highly recommend this place and can’t wait to come back!

Ryokan Asunaro: A Traditional Japanese Inn in Takayama. Nestled just a 6-minute walk from Takayama Station and the Nohi Bus Center, Ryokan Asunaro offers an authentic Japanese inn experience. The building is historical, and the rooms are beautiful. The breakfast is a perfect Japanese experience. The staff are friendly, and have plenty of English to give useful advice.
