Location was amazing- walking distance from the station and from the old town. The place was beautiful, and the rooms had everything. Futons were very comfy. The onsen was the best I tried so far (but I haven’t tried a lot). We did the private bath, and it was really nice. They also lend you yukatas to wear around the ryokan. And the staff were very friendly, hospitable and helpful!

Very nice and cosy space! Staff were friendly, facilities were nice, all was great! The free ramen at night was delicious! Food was generally not bad.

This 4-star ryokan offers luggage storage space and bicycle parking. The ryokan has parking on-site, a hot spring bath and full-day security. The staff of Iroriyado Hidaya was exceptionally friendly and helpful, also with regard to our kids; their genuine kindness and hospitality is a memory we will treasure. Using the traditional clothing and onsen was also a one of a kind experience. With our rental car the ryokan was a good exploration base for the surrounding area. And there is a really good authentic restaurant around the corner. If we got a chance in the future we would definitely come again!

The only downside is that there are no showers in the rooms or even in the building - you can only shower in the onsen area. It wasn’t a big issue, considering the overall experience

The ryokan is located in a geothermal area, with a number of hot springs nearby for guests to relax in. Beautiful and cozy ryokan at Hirayu Onsen, about a 45 min drive from Takayama. The kaiseki dinner was AMAZING. They really loaded us up with good quality, buttery hida Beef grilled over a charcoal irori. We were absolutely stuffed by the end of the dinner - a lovingly prepared multi course meal with grilled veggies and beef, soba noodles, tempura, sashimi, dessert. It’s a very local place for many Japanese tourists - most of the signs, menus were all in Japanese so we had some trouble with translation. Staff were lovely and helpful!

Situated in a tranquil area in Gifu Region, a 52-minute drive away from JR Takayama Station, Mozumo boasts a hot-spring bath and rooms decorated with modern Japanese interior. Free WiFi and free private parking is available on site. The private onsen in the rooms was amazing. The rooms were private and spacious and I am dreaming of going back one day. We especially appreciated the layout of the hotel and emphasis on design.
