Andy and the staff at Dark Horse are helpful and friendly. The accommodation feels so cozy, it's a home away from home. I stayed in the hostel room and it's very clean and comfortable. There is even a TV in my little space that I could watch Youtube and Netflix on. They provide free transport to Happo-one, Goryu and Sanosaka ski resorts. If you want to go to the other ski resorts, the staff can drop you at Happo Bus Terminal where you can catch the free shuttle bus. Free breakfast is also provided.

Loved our stay! Great location; easy walk to happo one slopes, bus station, and variety of food places & shops around. Also walked to Echoland one evening (but deffo preferred Happo/the area the Ryokan was in!). Stayed in traditional room - clean, cosy, had everything you need. Breakfast was a great surprise, so delicious!

The hotel is a non-smoking property. This is the most warm and welcoming place I have ever been. The owner is so kind and a wonderful host. His staff are cheerful, and engaging. It felt like staying at a fond family members home. We loved talking with other guests over the delicious breakfast each morning. You can walk to Goryu Ski lifts and multiple restaurants within minutes. We hope to come back again!

The Happo Kan is a 5-minute drive from Hakuba Iwatake Ski Area, and a 10-minute drive from Hakuba Goryu Ski Resort. It’s a 5-minute drive from the La Foret Hakuba Art Museum, as well as from Hakuba Train Station. The Hakuba Happo Onsen hot springs are a 10-minute drive. We loved it all - the Japanese room, space, amenities, ski storage, onsen, foot massage - but most of all the staff, they were so lovely. For example, when we told them we’d arrive a bit early they got the room ready for us when we arrived, gave us a Xmas present when we left, and were so attentive to make sure we had a perfect stay. Would recommend to anyone staying in Hakuba, you won’t regret it.

This 2-star guest house offers ski storage space and a lift. Offering free WiFi throughout the property, the non-smoking guest house has a hot spring bath. We loved every bit of our stay. Traditional Japanese tatami rooms with an amazing breakfast and dinner. Minutes walk to the slopes, restaurants, and bars. The family that ran the place was more than helpful in every way from sending our gear with Yamato, making restaurant reservations, and so friendly. Had private onsen for guests only. Had it to myself most of the time. Breakfast and dinner was the best meal we had all 5 days we were there. Everywhere in town, you needed reservations. If you're looking for a traditional stay close to the slopes, this is the place for you. If you are looking for a party or modern beds, this isn't the place for you, but highly recommend immersing yourself in the traditions. Would definitely come back!!

A 10-minute drive from Hakuba Happo-One Winter Ski Resort, Pension Tomato offers spacious Western-style rooms with a loft area. Free WiFi is available at the entire property and guests can reserve a private open-air bath overlooking the forest. A free shuttle is available from JR Hakuba Train Station, which is a 5-minute drive away and must be reserved at time of booking. Forest views are available from the 2nd floor of the accommodation. We loved our stay at Pension Tomato. The host was really kind and picked us up from the train station in Hakuba. Along with this, when dropping us off after our stay, he stopped at the Yamato centre so we could send ski bags to the next accomodation, a huge help. We stayed in the 6 bunk lodge, fantastic. The amenities were very, very clean and comfortable. The shower was excellent. Spacious enough, with a nice area to relax in and kitchen bench to make easy meals. We also utilised the in-house onsens - a great choice as they were incredibly relaxing and peaceful after a ski, really clean and nice tranquil forest views. There are multiple, bookable for mixed or non-mixed onsens. The breakfast which you book the day before is great too. A few minutes walk from the main echoland strip and rental place for ski/snow gear. That’s where shuttles for Happo-One and Hakuba 47 stop too, so convenient to get to the mountains in the morning.
