Private onsen is perfect for a family with kids and elderly. We stayed here for 2 nights with great variety of food.

Breakfast was exceptional, and the staff nice. Room was very big, with nice onsen (one indoor tub and one outdoor on the terrace). Location is nice and quiet, with forest surrounding. Even if on a remote location, it was easy to find using navigation, and the road signs marking the property.

Kurokawa Onsen Yama no Yado Shinmeikan features 5 hot-spring baths, including a 30-metre long cave bath. Located in the centre of Kurokawa hot-spring area, it offers Japanese accommodations and free WiFi at the lobby. Free shuttle is available to/from Ogunimachi Yu Station and bus stop Kurokawa. 10/10 everything was amazing! The place the food the staff and the baths! They even tried to accommodate our needs, as muslims, as much as possible ❤️ would recommend, would go again 👍 Thank you very much.

The dinner was delicious, really enjoyed.

We had a wonderful experience at Nanjoen...the Kaiseki dinner was fantastic, the staff was kind and helpful, location was terrific.

Boasting various indoor and open-air hot spring baths, Fumoto Ryokan offers traditional Japanese-style accommodation with a historic charm. It is surrounded by serene greenery next to a river. Free Wi-Fi is available at the public area. Greeted by friendly receptionist, rooms are huge even for a family of 6. Food and on-sen are exceeded our expectation. One particular receptionist could speak Mandarin and she made our stay so comfortable.

39 km from Mount Aso, Yamashinobu features a recently renovated 4-star accommodation in the Ota Onsen district of Minamioguni. The ryokan provides a spa experience, with its hot spring bath, public bath and open-air bath. The ryokan offers rooms with air conditioning, free private parking and free WiFi. Staff were so friendly and went above and beyond to make our stay the best experience we could have. A relatively boutique ryokan with only 12 rooms, we enjoyed the staff's attention to detail, and the tranquil atmosphere. Room was spacious, clean, had all the facilities you would need, public and private onsens were clean and well maintained. The dinner and breakfast tasted amazing with ridiculously large portions (we pretty much didn't need to eat lunch) and we got something different at every sitting. There is also free sake tasting at the fire pit. The accommodation is about a 5-minute drive from the main attraction of Kurokawa Onsen. We actually liked this, because the area was so quiet, away from the hustle and bustle of tourist hordes. Highly recommend this ryokan!
