Hotel mio offers a hot spring bath. Beautiful restored traditional Japanese home. Spacious, clean and well furnished. The small garden was wonderful as was the delightful welcome we received. Right in the centre of Shimabara and close to all the sights. The town doesn’t appear on many of the tourist sites but is well worth seeking out as a more traditional Japanese town. We even managed to find a great little local place to eat and navigate the menu in Japanese! Fabulous stay, perfect little home and wished we could have stayed longer.

The Onsen on the balcony overlooking the bay is an experience not to be missed. This felt truly luxurious. The staff cannot be faulted. We speak English and very little Japanese and the staff were extremely welcoming and accommodating. The food was beyond delicious. Prepared before our eyes and explained by the staff with care and detail. I cannot thank the staff more for their care and kindness.

Unzen Miyazaki Ryokan features a 1,650-square-meter Japanese garden, natural hot spring baths, free Wi-Fi, an on-site bar, cafe, souvenir shop and an exclusive lounge for guests staying in rooms on the 4th floor. peaceful area and good views from the room. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Bed is very comfy and facilities are well maintained and clean. The food is surprisingly good and like art pieces.

Nishiiriguchi Bus Stop is located right in front of the hotel and Shimabaragaiko Train Station is a 30-minute drive away. Room was big, spacious and clean. Facilities were numerous. Would recommend
