This property offers access to a balcony, free private parking and free WiFi. The accommodation offers full-day security and private check-in and check-out for guests. This was an amazing place and perhaps the highlight of our whole 3 weeks in Japan. We had a villa for four and it was amazing. The private Onsen and sauna really was the icing on the cake. The villa was well equipped, spacious and modern. There were so many high-tech gadgets I didn't really know what some of them were! The welcome drinks in the fridge were especially kind. There is a bus just before the 10:00 a.m. checkout time down to the station in Nikko which was great. Location a little bit out of town but that didn't bother us and it was a nice 15-minute walk.

The ryokan features mountain views, an outdoor fireplace, a 24-hour front desk, and free WiFi is available throughout the property. I was originally interested in this hotel because I read that the Onsen had a Museum full of Kishio Suga's work. I had been following this amazing Japanese artist for a number of years... so that fact was a deciding factor for me. But, the Onsen, the staff, the care that we felt they put into everything they did, the atmosphere of the place, the gardens also designed by Kishio Suga, the delightful guests we had the pleasure of meeting, our room and the food we were served - and let's not forget the tour of the museum! - made me love this place. Itamuro Onsen Daikokuya has history. Someone told us that the Onsen was 500 years old. Most of the Japanese guests we met there went to purely relax. The kind and capable staff take amazing care of all the guests: A Japanese friend in Tokyo told me I should celebrate the Winter Solstice while I was in Nasushiobara. She explained that on that one day, it had always been traditionally celebrated by putting YUZU fruit in Japanese baths and eating something made of pumpkin. I asked the hotel about all this. I really don't think it was part of their plan... but, they did it all: the YUZU in the baths and the specially prepared Pumpkin desserts. It was all to please us, their guests, and make sure our stay was perfect. I was so grateful and felt so pampered and happy. I enjoyed that fruit in the Japanese bath more than you can imagine. So, If you want to relax in a beautiful Onsen with history, go see great art at the. Suga museum, to have a beautiful experience, and be pampered in a very Japanese sort of way...you must come to Itamuro Onsen Daikokuya.

Exceptional breakfast and dinner with a spacious tatami room and futon, prepared for you during dinner, after a soak in the semi-outdoor, nature facing hot springs. I visited during the shoulder-low period in Nikko and had the hot spring all to myself for the duration of my stay. Private hot springs available but need-not-necessary

It was our first time staying in a ryokan, and it did gave us a really good impression. Property itself was nice, located in a small town beside the river. Room was facing the river so we can hear the soothing noise from the river. Dinner was excellent--food kept on coming, great quality, great variety. They even managed to cater our diet (without pork and alcohol). I love the outdoor onsen. It's very relaxing to soak in the hot water facing the river.
Breakfast was simple, but great. The (shared) indoor Japanese hot spring bath was clean, large, and free when we wanted to use it.
The facilities - onsen and library. The little resting area outside the onsen was also nice. Complimentary drinks and snacks. The library had a good selection of novels and mangas and pods for reading. The onsen was good - indoor and outdoor. Good ventilation in the indoor onsen as I often get lightheaded in other onsens due to bad ventilation. The outdoor onsen was cool. The dormitory was more spacious than expected.
Nice Ryokan with two private indoor Onsen that can be freely used when available, good place to explore Nikko and surroundings, but be careful to bus schedules
Variety of hot springs, buffet, rooms were very spacious, easy to drive to from Utsunomiya station and from Kinugawa Onsen station. Very close to Edomura (Edo Wonderland), and you can purchase tickets at a discounted price inhouse. Drink bars were good too.
Although it takes a bit to reach the Ryokan, we really liked it there! It is surrounded by forest and very calm! We stayed one night and did a short hike when we arrived. The outdoor Onsen are super nice and mixed, which is very convenient if you want to spend time together. The staff was very nice and the food delicious!
Beautiful location, friendly staff, indoor/outdoor onsen. I only wished I could stay longer. The lounge and kitchen area was lovely and well-equipped, and it would have been a very pleasant place to stay for a few days. The onsen area was set up very well and very clean; I especially enjoyed the outdoor bath. The amount of natural light coming into the lounge area through the many large windows was especially pleasant in the morning.
it’s self sufficient, facilities are new and functional. place is clean and neat. reasonable distance from Nikko station. convenient stores are nearby. option to even do cooking and bbq. neighbourhood is quiet. manmade hot spring is a good alternative to onsen.
The hotel is in a very quite area, very relaxing. Although rooms are a bit old, but they are very clean. We have 2 children 2yo & 6yo, both had an enjoyable memory of the hot spring
Onsen was moderately sized with an outdoor component containing amazing sulphuric hot spring water. Service and dinner was also impeccable, never felt so welcomed at a ryokan before. Would definitely recommend for couples!
