The accommodation and the host are exceptional. The accommodation is a traditional and lovely renovated Japanese house in the small village of Ocho. It has a spacious shared living room. The sleeping rooms are Japanese style with Tatami and Futon. We stayed two nights, and the host prepared breakfast and dinner for us which was both very good. The second night we had Okonomiyaki for dinner and ate together with the host. [Note: Dinner is not always available and must be reserved in advanced. There is also a spacious kitchen which we, however, didn't use.] The host is very friendly and takes time for a chat. Although the village is remote it is more than worth a visit. It can frequently be reached by bus from Hiro station which we took at the day of arrival, or by ferry which we took at the day of departure. To get around the islands you can rent brand new electric bicycles at the accommodation. The old town of Mitarai can even be reached on foot within 15min. The village and the islands in general are very quiet. If you don't come with your own car, it's recommended to plan a bit in advance. There is a supermarket in the village. And you can find some restaurants in the old town of Mitarai. However, most do only open on weekends and holidays.

Amazing place, a true hidden gem. We ended up needing a place to sleep while doing the Shinanamikaido cycling route and looked for a nice cheap option. After cycling through the sleepy rural Japanese countryside we made it to the hostel, finding it quite easily. The staff checking us in was very helpful and had great English, the whole process taking about 5 minutes. The common areas were clean and filled with appliances, board games and a nice manga collection. The room was quiet and the bunks spacious, slept better than I have in some hotels. Breakfast was great too and they offer free coffee in the shared space. There’s a beautiful shrine and Lawson convenience store nearby so you will be able to enjoy the location and stock up for the rest of your journey.

I stayed here during my Shimanami Kaido trip because I needed accommodation close to Okunoshima (the rabbit island). The property is essentially a hostel with private rooms. It was clean, comfortable, and well thought out. They provided useful amenities such as a toothbrush, earplugs, warmers for the colder season, and even a torch, which came in handy because it gets really dark at night, and you need it to walk to the kombini.

Cute place with cozy beds and nice atmosphere in room. Located in nice town close to shrine and wisteria garden and several good restaurants. Shared toilets and shower we're very clean. We were very happy there after a day of cycling!

Everything! The apartment is very comfortable, clean, well equipped (has a kitchenette with all types of utensils), and has the best view to the Hakata Beach! The owners are very friendly and offered delicious welcome drink made with local citrus syrup. The apartment is a few minutes walk to the inter-island bus stop and across from the bicycle rental center, making it easily accessible. One night stay was too short... a minimum two nights would have been much better! Definitely coming back here again.
