A wonderful ryokan in Aizuwakamatsu, with the most helpful and diligent staff! I never went a day without being completely full, my breakfast and dinner were absolutely wonderful! The bath area was calming and spotless clean! Cannot recommend this place enough!

The house itself is beautiful. It's a traditional Japanese home with a very traditional layout. It's been renovated in such a way that preserves the feeling of a traditional home but with clean and modern materials. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. There were so many small amenities in the house that made our stay so comfortable. In fact, this house was so nice that it was difficult to stay in a hotel at our next destination. If you have a car, the location is extremely convenient. I wouldn't recommend it to people who are relying on public transportation. There are grocery stores and restaurants nearby. We saved a lot of money by cooking in the kitchen every day. Basic things like soy sauce and oil were already provided, as were all of the dishes and utensils. Downstairs is a tatami room where you can relax on the floor and eat. It has a great view of the garden. Aside from a table and cushions, there's nothing else in the room so you'll need to bring your own entertainment. We had a little Bluetooth speaker and video games. The shower was massive and the water pressure was great. The towels provided were extremely soft. The beds were comfortable. I stayed in summer, and it was nice and cool in the bedroom. The air conditioner works very well, and we never felt hot even when it was 38 °C outside. I imagine it must be very warm in winter also. As it is a traditional house, only the upstairs bedroom and downstairs tatami/living room have air conditioners. This is completely normal for Japan, but I am writing it here because some visitors from overseas may not realize that central air conditioning is not common.

Staying here even for one night was very nice. Gina helped us find our bus the next day as soon as we arrived, our room was heated and very nice with a balcony, the kitchen was well equipped and had tea to make yourself. At the reception there was food from sandwiches to sweet things prepared by Gina's mom, very delicious, recommended. Good hall to watch movies or plan your trip ! Definitely recommend this place. It was clean and tidy. It was pretty quiet when I stayed but you have to be respectful as the other room is next to you so don't have loud music and use your inner voice. The stairs are quite steep just take your time. It was unique to try Japanese-style accommodation. They text you the password for entering and for your room. So don't forget it, just take your phone with you.

The owner was very kind and helpful! The breakfast was delicious and the ofuro was also great!
