I stayed in Dorm 2 on the second floor, and the room had more than enough space for everyone’s luggage. The bunk bed was also surprisingly spacious, with a shelf for personal items and even a locker for valuables. The staff were fantastic—especially Brandon at the reception, who was incredibly helpful, communicative, and genuinely friendly. He went out of his way to make sure all my needs were met, and he was also a great person to chat with. The entire guesthouse is spotless. Everything is clean, well-organized, and equipped with all the essentials. I especially loved the creative use of the former school building: the science lab turned into a kitchen, the classrooms into dorms, and even the principal’s office! I’m definitely trying that one next time. And the gymnasium—when was the last time I hung out in a school gym? Such a nostalgic and fun experience. If you’re visiting Magome-juku and looking for a place that’s both cool and comfortable, this is the one.

This 4-star hotel offers a 24-hour front desk and luggage storage space. The property is non-smoking and is located 300 metres from Takayama Station. Location was fairly near the JR Takayama Station. A bus station is also nearby. Restaurants are a walking distance. I really liked their initiative to put together a tourist guide for Takayama which can be found in the lobby. The guide was very comprehensive in suggesting activities, destinations and food to try during your stay in Takayama. Twin Room was also fairly large for a Japanese Hotel. Facility was clean and would definitely stay here again. Staff has been really helpful, warm and accommodating.

Residence Hotel Takayama Station is situated conveniently in the centre of Takayama, and offers a fitness centre, free WiFi and a terrace. This 4-star hotel offers luggage storage space. Private parking is available on site. This hotel is the best I ever stayed in Japan. There are kitchen set, washing mechine with the detergent, dishware, etc. The room was big and the beds were big and nice too. The room is also clean.

Experiencing a Ryokan was amazing and Onyado Yuinosho is the perfect place for it, the staff is incredibly nice and accomodating, the food is incredible, the rooms and facilities are so fancy and pretty and atmosphere is so relaxed and cozy! They give you all sorts of amenities, they have free ramen at night, coffee, yogurt drinks and they even leave local candy to try inside the room! They also have vending machines for soft drinks/coffee/tea and alcohol! The meals they serve are extremely tasty and fancy with beautiful window views of the mountains! The private onsen rooms are beatiful and relaxing! The two nights we spent there were the highlight of our trip! Absolutely must recommend this place if you plan to visit Shirakawa-go!

Our rooms are designed with traditional Japanese aesthetics, featuring tatami mat flooring throughout. For those who prefer a futon on tatami or a bed, we also offer Japanese-Western style rooms. The warm ambiance is further enhanced by local artists' paintings adorning the walls. Spacious room, everything was well arranged and organised. Staff was helpful and professional, and provided all necessary information we needed to know about. And the guidebook in the room showed info about how to travel around the area. And there is a laundry room and we could pay to wash and dry (p.s. very reasonable prices). On-site free parking is a plus too!!
