I loved being able to see the stars at night and wake up to the sun rising and seeing it all from the bubble! There is an outdoor shower and outdoor kitchen (make sure to bring food as there are not big shops nearby). They have mango trees around and the family is incredibly nice. If you want to experience the local area but with comfort and unique site, go here! Also, I did a very cool hike around the area, with local guides.

Honestly it was so clean and comfortable. I had excellent communication with the host throughout. They only accept cash payment which we agreed on the currency over WhatsApp. The place was very easy to find on Google maps. Parking is secure and abundant. There is a lift to take your luggage. The apartment is situated on the 5th floor and has the most amazing view and breeze. The place is well ventilated and has fans in every room which are powerful. There were no bugs at all, the accomodation is well lit and everything is clean and well maintained. The shower pressure is fantastic and there was hot water throughout. There was an en suite in the master bedroom and a family bathroom outside for the other 2 bedrooms. Both rooms have double beds and families fit here comfortably. We chose to buy dinner in Mash Poa and Java coffee a few days but we also cooked basics for breakfast and lunch for the kids. It is a gas stove and there are utensils to make pasta, fry eggs, boil rice etc. We visited Voi Wildlife Lodge to have some sundowners and watch the animals. We visited Tsavo East and Tsavo West. We saw more animals in Tsavo West. This location was a perfect jumping off spot to visit both places. My husband and son came with our driver by road whereas my parents and I took the train. The train was extremely comfortable and the 4 hour journey flew by. I highly highly recommend this accommodation. It is comfortable, functional and well priced. The guys at the gate remove the rubbish and are available to help out if needed. We bought groceries from Nairobi but there are 3 supermarkets in town and you get the basics there..

Additionally, they recommended an excellent local tour company, Msherembe Safari and Travels, for a half-day trip costing only 13,000 KSH. We also had Mtalaki, a local taxi driver, who was kind enough to pick us up, drop us off, and wait while we bought groceries. I would definitely stay at Illala again on my next trip to Tsavo East National Park, which is just a 4-minute drive from Illala to the main gate.

There was so much attention to detail throughout our stay, which made it feel very special. I would absolutely book this place again anytime!
