The location is THE BEST you could ever imagine. Right at the edge of a national park with view onto a lake you see lots of macaques and langurs, birds, mongooses and with a bit of luck elephants roaming around, sometimes they come very close and are just 2 few meters away. No worries there is security fence as you know it from national park areas inbetween. The cabins, very exclusively as there are only 2 available, are perfectly equipped, spotless clean, airtight - so no bugs will bother you as long as you exercise common sense to keep doors closed and come with very good working air-conditioning. You have a nice cozy seating area/porch attached to watch the animals while you are enjoying meals or ice-cold drinks. Bringing your binoculars to view animals further away is recommended. Sanka is THE BEST host you could ever imagine, very warm welcoming and always smiling, and very attentive. He is always available, happy to serve you his delicious food and ice-cold drinks to your room, everything for very reasonable prices. He helps to arrange safaris for you, provides amazing advise on sightseeing, loves to exchange experiences with his guests. He is such a lovely person, himself still very excited about the wildlife, it was hard to leave this place. Ensure to reserve ahead as this place has only 2 cabins and is of course very popular. Binara and his wife are perfect hosts, I felt fully supported and safe with them. I loved their home cooked meals! The accommodation with a peaceful environment, huge garden is enchanting, quiet, comfortable also close to the ancient ruins and the magical lake. Boat tour on the lake by Nimal is highly recommended, one of my best experience here in Sri Lanka.

The home is located just next to the ancient site, it wii tak you 5 nins to get there on your way back home. The owner of the place helped me a lot during stay, always friendly and smiling. I would definitely recommend this place for the travellers, you will feel at home.

Situated in the heart of Polonnaruwa and overlooking the panoramic Parakrama Samudraya, The Lake House provides a peaceful getaway featuring elegantly furnished rooms and free internet access. Location was perfect. The room interior and ambience was classy and retained sri lankan features. Spectacular view. And service was par excellence. Didnt have enough. Definitely coming back for more.

Tishan Holiday Resort is located in Bendiwewa in the region of Polonnaruwa. The archaeological area is 3.5 km away from Tishan Hotel. Hotel features a year-round outdoor pool and sun terrace. The staff was extremely friendly and went out of their way to make sure I had a good stay. Unfortunately, it rained the afternoon I was there so didn’t get to enjoy the pool, but it looked great and well kept.
