Yakaduru Yala is located on the buffer Zone of Yala National Park. It's just 5 minutes away from the Yala National Park Entrance. In the evening, we had tea on Yakaduru rock with that stunning sunset. The night was calm and beautifully lit with soft, dark lighting. We enjoyed an outdoor BBQ by the firelight. The next day, we went on a safari in a Yakaduru jeep with a great guide who provided excellent explanations about the Yala area, Sri Lanka, and its wildlife.

We had a room with four single beds each with mosquito nets and they were easy to reconfigure so we had two pairs of beds either the nets easy to overlap. La Safari Inn made contact ahead of our stay to see if we wanted them to arrange a safari which we said yes to. We had an experienced guide, Madhu, who collected us at 04.30 and got us back to the lodgings around mid day. We saw leopards, elephants, crocodiles, mongoose, monkeys, … and lots of beautiful birds.

Where to start.. this stay really went straight to our hearts <3 From the second we arrived Madu and his crew took great care of my husband and I. We had half board but opted for lunch on the property as well. The lunch serving and evening BBQ was some of the best meals we had on the entire trip. We also did two safaris arranged by the property and this worked really well. Madu the "all around guy" was also our safari guide and all though he was new at the job at Yala Wild Hut, he was very vigilant and professional. He never left our side whenever outside the tents, I guess for service and safety and we never felt unsafe at any time. This whole experience of staying in the wild and getting to know these people and their story really touched us deeply. We are so grateful for this authentic experience!

He organized two full day safaris for us - one in Block 5&6 and one in Block 1 of the Yala national park. They were both amazing and we could (besides elephants, monkeys, crocodiles,...) observe 4 leopards and even a mother with her cub! 😍 The huge tent with the veranda was just perfect. We could even observe several animals like peacocks and mungos directly from there. One evening the host's mum spontaneously cooked for us and we even got the dinner served to our veranda. Another evening he took us by car to a restaurant. So overall it was a great experience and I can only recommend this place.
