The Strand hotel in Schmerikon is situated in a fantastic location directly on Lake Zurich. The accommodation has its own small beach, which is reserved for hotel guests only. Our room overlooking the water was spacious and beautifully decorated- my husband, who can be critical, remarked that it was one of the nicest rooms we had been to in an extended time. Lovely small veranda to sit and view the water along with goats (and cute kid goats) grazing outside. Very quiet and peaceful. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast had a good selection and was fresh. Dinner also lovely with good service and nice tables again with water views. There are plentiful tables outside but the weather was a little cool so we sat inside.

Located in Thalwil’s centre, Hotel Sedartis offers rooms with a balcony or a terrace and free Wi-Fi. Excellent hotel, gorgeous views, food was amazing. Rooms were lovely, we were woken by the beautiful sunrise over the lake Zurich, which was amazing. Train station is across the road, however trains run so quietly that there was no noise at all. Train to city centre is 11min, airport less than 30 min, it made the travel effortless and very pleasant.
